SPY system current trade

Posted by matt on 21st of Jun 2011 at 09:58 am

Yesterday I posted as a sticky note that if SPY had closed over 127.93, it would have generated a sell signal and the system would have sold out today on the open, which of course would have been a nice trade.

However since that did not occur, the trending indicator went positive today and the system will now be holding the current trade for a longer period of time - good or bad, that's what the current trade is shaping into.

    Matt, thanks for keeping us

    I don't think so. I

I don't think so. I think the system only scales down/up on trades. So only another entry if it enters at a worse price than previous entry.

    You are correct, the system

You are correct, the system will only enter a multiple position as the price goes lower or higher than the initial entry depending on whether or not it's a short or a long.

Matt-- I didn't see the sticky

    Matt--

I didn't see the sticky note and didn't receive a BPT Live Alert email to be on the lookout for a close above 127.93.  It would be helpful if buy and sell messages were always sent in email form.

    Thanks.

    I did not see the

I did not see the sticky note either yesterday. I  come to this page several times a day and usually every day by 3:55 EST.

I go to the regular community page and click Matt and Steve to refresh that then click on the SPY tab to see any new posts or stickys.

I also go to the spy system page and click trades.

Is there somthing else I should be doing to get to the right refreshed page for SPY system alerts.

    again if I thought that

Posted by matt on 21st of Jun 2011 at 11:55 am

again if I thought that condition would have been met, I would have added it to the SPY page yesterday and I would have sent an email, the reason I didn't was because it was clear that it would not be met.  I will always post information on the SPY page when a trade condition has a chance to be met and will send out an official email; yesterday was not the case, again dont' worry about.

when something important needs to be addressed, I will put it out for all to see on the SPY page and in an email

    Well following up on that

Posted by tom on 21st of Jun 2011 at 12:23 pm

Well following up on that same thought.  The sale of a long happens the next day on the open so it is common (as common as it can be with the small amount of total trades so far) that we send alerts after the close and not during the day when it's the sale of a long.  If it is clear then we might give a heads up but if its close we will likely always wait for the final print and then send.  Frankly this is a very simple system to follow but I cannot help but feel that many people are making it much more difficult than it has to be.  I don't know if it is fear or boredom or what but it just seems very unproductive.

    floyd - I didn't send

Posted by matt on 21st of Jun 2011 at 10:35 am

floyd - I didn't send an email yesterday because it was obvious that the condition would not be met.  I only want to send out official emails when the system will likely meet a sell or buy condition.  Also for exiting longs, I send out the confirming emails after the close because per the system longs are exited the next day on the open.  Since the condition was not met yesterday, no email was needed and may have just confused some members

We get enough confusion from emails and members reacting to them when they shouldn't, therefore I only like to send out an official email when necessary.

    Thanks for the comment about

Thanks for the comment about the trending indicator Matt -- nice to know a bit about what the system is "expecting"       Smile
