as I discuss in the newsletter, my goal is to add more ETF's to
the reversion to mean systems, so instead of SPY and ES, we'll also
have QQQ, IWM, TLT, XLE, FEZ things like that.
that said - the new systems will work in an easier way for all
of us. Currently the SPY and ES systems are close of bar systems,
and it's a mad dash for me to get signals out. It's hard enough to
do that with just SPY and ES, but imaging me trying to do that for
10 ETF's.
Instead the news systems will be next bear open. Basically I'll
get the trade signal on the market close, BUT the trade will be for
the next day's open, that means I can leisurely send you what
systems are triggering for the next day that afternoon or evening,
and you enter the next day. Gaps will at times give better or worse
prices, but they are being backtested and optimized with the next
day open. Here's the QQQ bear long next day open for
example
The other thing I'll probably do differently is currently for
the SPY and ES systems I send out trade notifications for all 22
systems separately. That's too much for a bunch of ETF's to follow.
What I'll probably do is have 2 charts for each ETF, where I have
all the longs on one chart and all the shorts on another, or I
could just place all the systems on chart for each ETF, there'll be
less trades that way and easier to manage.
people surprise me sometimes, or maybe not in this day and
age.
I get emails from subscribers who complain that they do not take
the trade signals to the SPY and ES systems because most of the
time they receive the trade notification a few min after the cash
close, which as you know many times I have to wait for the close to
confirm the trades. I always bring up the fact that the ETF's trade
for a full 4 hrs in after hrs and just take them in after hrs.
These days all brokers allow that, even my retirement IRA. And of
course if you are taking the ES systems signals and substituting
ETF's in place, since ES doesn't close until 5 pm anyway, by
default you have to enter that trade in after hrs anyway. And yet I
had someone today write in that they were going to cancel because
they have not been taking the trades because they don't have a
broker that allows after hrs trading - they saw my post about the
next day open systems and said they would stick around for a while.
And to be clear - that's going to be 2 or 3 months before
probably finish the next bar open systems.
Also guys - quite honestly even on the SPY and ES systems, if
you took the trades the next morning instead, they are still very
profitable. I've looked at the stats before, and they are slightly
worse but not by that much. As an example one system might have 90%
winning trades if you took the trades end of day, but if you
instead waited until the next day, maybe it's 85% winning trades -
still very good. You could do that, and especially if prices are
better the next day.
But what bothers me is that people sometimes don't make the
effort to do what is needed.
here's a great analogy. Let's say that I buried a million
dollars of gold coins on top of a mountain and I tell you where the
location is and I say - go dig them up and they are yours!
I swear to god, some people instead of being excited and
happy and making plans to go get the gold, some people would say "
Matt, that's pretty high up and it's really cold up there, why
couldn't you have buried the gold in that field over there, so I
can't go?" it's like really?
Again, I'm giving you the trade signals - it is your job to
figure out a way to take the trades, or be a doer in
life.
Matt - on most days you give early notification followed by
confirming email and again reconfirm the ES when that trades. These
guys are idiots or what, I am sure most of the members are more
than happy with your service. YOU GO ABOVE AND BEYOND with the SPY
and ES trades.
Matt, I'm guessing the emails you get from subscribers or
potential subscribers are not from the ones that have spent tens of
thousands of dollars on trading education/systems only to be
disappointed. In my 15+ yrs of trading I have not come across
another service that provides the comprehensive education, trade
ideas, system trades, and communication that you and Steve
provide, at an incredible value. You give us the tools we need to
be successful, and the guidance to increase our confidence. You
tweak the systems to improve results, and look to add new vehicles
for more trades and increased profits. I am grateful to be part of
the BPT community, not just for the benefits you and Steve provide,
but also for the sharing of information from the members.
Ultimately when we take a trade, or not, it is our decision.
We own it. Thank you for a profitable 2022 and looking forward to
the same in 2023.
