Here's VVIX in the October thru December decline of 2018. It
kind of shows how VVIX became less reactive as the decline went on,
but nothing so tame as today. Also, there's a bit of a coil
developing on the second snapshot

$SPX - Chart Link - quite interesting to see that the VVIX was barely up today barely even moved. I wonder if that's telling us something?

$CPC only ~0.9... I saw very bearish sentiment from Investor Intelligence survey but many others are showing neutral or even complacency.
