Guys, here's the download page for the BPT MA Deluxe.
Please note it will ONLY allow you to to download it if you
have an active membership, if you are a free trial it will not
allow you to download it. I will make a video later to
discuss some of the settings in more detail
Once you have installed the BPT MA Deluxe indicator, also please
download this second file for the
BPT MACD/BB Indicator
Next, after you have installed the BPT MA Deluxe and the BPT
MACD/BB indicators, here's the
Workspacewhich contains a monthly chart of the S&P 500 as well as a
daily chart. There is also a daily chart of the GDX. Please
note you cannot open this workspace until you have installed the
BPT MA Deluxe and BPT MACD/BB indicators
----
Also here's the text which discusses the indicator along with a
video, I posted this last week
Here's the BPT MA deluxe MA, which is really just a fancy name
for a moving average set that has tons and tons of settings.
It allows you to plot two MA's like at 20 and 50 or 50, 200
or whatever, and it also has 8 different moving average types that
you can choose from (Simple, Exponential, Weighted, Triangle,
Adaptive, Hull Weighted, Hull Expontial, and Hull Modified).
we can also plot just one MA and turn off the second (which
is what I show in the sample charts). It also slows the color
of the slope of the MA (green when the slope is up and red when the
slope is negative).
The last custom setting it has is a whipsaw factor. You've
all seen my use the BPT confirmation method where you need a second
candle to confirm the first candle of an indicator change, I've
shown this with various moving averages, MACD crosses, RSI above or
below 50%, stochastics above or below 50%. However I added a
whipsaw confirmation method to this MA that only allows the slope
to change color if it is confirmed by a second color - this turns
it into more of a trending indicator. I've attached some
images below of daily and monthly S&P 500 charts. The
setting that I'm using is a 34 length exponential modified MA (our
#8 MA) with the whipsaw confirmation turned on, as you can see it's
done a great job at catching most of the trends.
For BPT members who have Tradestation I'm going to give you this
indicator and a workspace for free so that you can play around with
different settings and follow it on your own!
Again note that even though the indicator appears to follow trend
very well, I still don't like to use it on its own, I use it as a
tool with other things and analysis. For example on the
monthly chart, I've found that whenever the RSI is oversold (which
is a rare event on monthly charts), it's best to enter a long
earlier than wanting for the MA to turn green - I've found taking
the first MACD/BB green dot gets you in early (but only doing this
when the monthly RSI was in a deeply oversold condition below 30%).
The first three charts show monthly S&P 500 charts while
the last 2 charts show daily S&P charts, one recent and while
from the past.
On the daily charts as you can see it's been green since mid
November so has caught this whole move.
Looks great Matt, I can think of a few ways to use it. Looking
forward to the class overview of how to properly use it. I am also
interested in seeing if we can use it as a strategy.
Matt, question- is there a way that performance reports (for a
trading system) can be generated in TradeStation using this BPT MA
Deluxe moving average (for example, selling when it turns red,
buying when it turns green)? I've tried that w/the M3 Switch
in the past but couldn't figure out a way to do that.
Matt, for those of use that don't want to go the TradeStation
route. What would you think about having a refreshable or
periodically auto-updating version of say the monthly, weekly,
daily and 60min chart in the Long term tools section or another
page (could be password protected if you wanted only paying members
to be able to access it). Would be nice inputs for overall
long/short bias.
bkout3- the daily
chart of SPX with that MA is already in the long term tools
section, otherwise I'll also be adding a monthly chart of the SPX
and MACD/BB as well.
I'm probably gonna take off some of those other indicators for
example there are so many different NASI and BPCOMPQ indicators
etc, I would like like to clean that section up and make it
simpler
but otherwise regarding your comments, the daily indicator is
already there and I'll be adding the monthly one soon. I've
also given the workspace to Steve and he may include them in his
newsletters from time to time.
Now as far as Tradestation - please remember that if any of you
decide to open a Tradestation account - you can basically get your
BPT membership for free because TS has agreed to refund what you
pay in membership fees to BPT back to you in the form of
commissions. This means that you have to do trades with them,
but if you do enough trades you can get as much as 80 bucks a month
refunded back to you in commissions thus making your BPT membership
for free! However you must maintain a BPT membership to
continue to get the discount because TS checks with me from time to
time.
Also as you know I have some high powered Mechanical Systems
such as my SPY systems and 5 min ES system and others which have 80
- 90% winning trades - I think these are a good deal and you can
only get these systems if you have a TS account
"the daily chart of SPX with that MA is already in the long term
tools section"...I must be losing vision because i don't see a
daily SPX chart in the long term tools section
OK...well this member (bkout3) had a good question then... "What
would you think about having a refreshable or periodically
auto-updating version of say the monthly, weekly, daily and 60min
chart in the Long term tools section or another page (could be
password protected if you wanted only paying members to be able to
access it). Would be nice inputs for overall long/short
bias."

I tried out the bpt ma deluxe on my ttadestetion, but keep
getting the message that the indicator is deleted when loading the
workspace provided. Any ideas on how to fix this?
a_l_- it's possible that I had some other
indicators in the background that I didn't delete off, however that
workspace should have loaded with the indicators that you need and
included the MACD/BB and BPT MA Deluxe - therefore disregard that
error message, as long as you see the BPT MA Deluxe and MACD/BB you
are good to go.
I'll be giving free indicators over time. Also regarding
the BPT whipsaw method - we've been able to make that into a
function and apply it to any indicator like MACD, RSI's you name
it, kind of cool

interesting the BPT MA Deluxe

interesting the BPT MA Deluxe on the 60 min SPY chart did not flip to green even on the morning gap up, it turned red last week
pretty big retracement so for today for the market, puts more odds in favor of today's bounce being a wave B or lower high
Looks awesome Matt
