Out of curiosity - I

history of 4th entries

Posted by sporopat on 14th of Jun 2011 at 01:48 pm

Out of curiosity - I also looked up how the 1st trade did when there were a total of 4 entries (just wanted to see the odds of the single entry system having a winning trade when 4 entries were taken using the multitrade system).

Entry Date / Duration* / Profit for 4th trade/ Profit for 1st trade (or single entry):

Oct 30 2009,  6 days,  4.24%, 0.97%
Mar 3 2009,  52 days,  27.54%, 19.72%
Jul 2 2008,  4 days,  1.05%, -3.1%
Aug 24 2007,  2 days,  3.11%, 0.64%
Jul 19 2004,  2 days,  1.43%, -0.94%
Apr 4 2002,  5 days,  0.20%, -2.04%
Jul 27 2000,  10 days,  1.48%, -0.11%
Feb 18 2000,  11 days,  3.47%, -0.91%
Apr 19 1999,  8 days,  4.68%, 1.8%
Apr 28 1998,  6 days,  3.29%, 0.14%

So, it looks like it is a toss up.  5 times out of the last 10 instances,  the 1st trade would have also been a winner.

Great advice Matt

I think you should send out your post in an e-mail to all SPY System members so that everyone is sure to read it.

SPY sell if above 135.50 -- Still hold's true?

Posted by sporopat on 10th of May 2011 at 09:30 am

I would imagine it is a dynamic number that changes.  Also note that if we do get a signal today, we have plenty of time to close the trade since according to the rules, all longs are exited the morning after the signal is generated.  Hope this helps.

Ah Matt - It's all

SPY Out

Posted by sporopat on 6th of May 2011 at 02:58 pm

Ah Matt - It's all just a lot of noise at the moment because everyone is jumpy and excited about the launch.

You are providing us with an amazing tool and like you keep saying, it is up to us how to use it (and gosh knows you have already provided a ton of info in the info section - when people are excited I think they read too quickly and miss 50% of it - just easier for them to post the question).

Eventually, everything will simmer down.  Through trial, error and feedback, you will have it all streamlined so that there will be less questions.  To top it off, eventually, you will have veterans on the SPY board who will be able to help answer most of the questions on your behalf and hold the hands of the newbies if and when those eventual whippy trades do occur.

It will all work out and be great in the end.

Stefano - I think 10%

SPY MAX DRAW DOWN

Posted by sporopat on 5th of May 2011 at 02:22 pm

Stefano - I think 10% and 4% are the max dd during the intra trade period.  3.4% and 1.3%, respectively, are the max closing losses for each system.

Susan - instead of refreshing,

blog updating

Posted by sporopat on 5th of May 2011 at 02:15 pm

Susan - instead of refreshing, just click on (Recent) beside SPY System under the "Topics" table on the left hand side of this webpage.  It saves a couple steps.  Hope it helps.

Check your e-mail everyone - Looks like we are supposed to buy!

So am I reading correctly that the SPY closed at $134.83?  No trade then?  Right?

Top financial blogs

Lexcorporation.org is one guy I follow for some resource stock ideas.  He has some good info on his site.  He doesn't do any technical analysis but a lot of the stocks he picks seem to have good looking charts (since technicals and fundamentals often work hand in hand).  Rank10 who used to be on this board did a lot of fundamental analysis as well and I found that they (Rank and Lex) came up with a lot of similar picks - great minds think alike.

Possible to record it?

SPY system and short webinar

Would it be possible for you to record the webinar for those of us that can't attend?  I'd love to join in but might not be able to depending on the time you hold it.  Thanks!

This guy is pretty good at picking winners.  He reminds me of Rank (the fundamental side of Rank that it).

LNG is riding the 9 EMA

Posted by sporopat on 7th of Jan 2011 at 11:40 am

Here's the 15 min chart.  A break below $6.58ish will probably lead to a bit more of a pullback but that will also fill this mornings gap up so hard to say what will happen.

I'm with you desertrat and baker.  I'm doing well on this one too.  I'm looking for a quick ride to $10 and an eventual ride to $25.

Peter Grandich

Peter Grandich turns bearish

My husband and I actually met Mr. Grandich at the last investment show here in Toronto and were lucky enough to sit down with him for an hour of one on one time.  He really tells it like it is.  He is very upfront about his involvement with the companies he covers and urges people to do their own DD.  We have learned a lot from him.  No one can be right 100% of the time but he puts his views out there and he will be the first one to admit when we has made a mistake or not called something right.

Funny you should bring up his name.  Brent was on "Market Call Tonight" on BNN last night:

Sorry Bill but I can't really recommend anything as I am a Canadian so I have no problems trading the Canadian stocks (I use TD Waterhouse).  Maybe try doing a search on the blog as I know there has been discussions about it before?  Sorry I can't help.

Just wanted to post this website for anyone interested in junior resource companies.  This guy is pretty good and seems to really put his all into it considering he doesn't charge a fee.

A lot of his picks are a good fundamental analytical compliments to Rank10's technical analysis picks (although I know Rank does a lot of  fundamental analysis homework too Smile).

Perhaps a 1-2, 1-2 correction and then up?  As far as seasonality goes, nat gas usually starts to pick up at the end of August (or so I have read).  $6.70ish might be a good place to pick some up.

Yes, IB has the software but I tripped it once - through running an EOD automated system that whipped around a lot one day.  I then had to top up my account to unfreeze it as I dipped slightly under the 25g.
