Does anyone remember when John Roth from Nortel was featured in
Time (Europe) and Forbes in Dec 2000? When did Nortel burst
the first time? Shortly thereafter I'm sure.

Oh definitely - I'm trying to keep myself mentally prepared for
40% to 50% of the trades being losing ones, since that is the
record over time (with the profit from the winners exceeding the
losses from the losers, of course).

I've been playing this strategy for the last two weeks now and
it has been fanastic! I keep expecting the next trade to be a
losing one (just to prepare myself). I'm still trying to not
let myself get too excited.
The entries have been great these past two weeks because they've
been getting you into the right side of a trade the day before a
larger move happens.

I'm with you Bullau. When I was in school getting my
microbiology degree, we were warned that we were due for a really
bad pandemic at any time. It's Mother Nature's way of weeding
out the population. I definitely hope the health care
industry can come out with enough vaccine to take care of the whole
population but from what I have heard, there may only be
enough to vaccinate the workers on the front line for now. I
am definitely an optimist by nature but this possible pandemic has
me a little nervous as well.

Thanks bkout3. I was having problems figuring out how to
do it too. I don't know code either and only know how to set
things up using the Wizard. Your solution seems like a good
one. I can definitely handle setting up the three separate
strategies. You're right though, the TS people must be
roaring!! Unfortunately, Ninja is my only option
.

Don't take it too hard Matt. It will just take everyone
some time to get used to it. I'm still getting used
to navigating around but I think it looks fantastic and
very professional. I know I am not alone in appreciating all
the hard work you put into the site and all the improvements you
make on an ongoing basis!
Thanks for all the PM's from my fellow Canucks! The
idea of doing it is way more daunting then actually doing it.
Just go for it! Start by surfing the Ninja and IB
sites. You can find out 95% of all the info you need
there. The other 5%, I'd be happy to help you with!
Maybe if there are enough of us using Ninja (because we aren't
able to open Tradestation accounts), just maybe Matt and Steve will
provide a few Ninjascript programs in the premium content section
after he starts offering the Tradestation code???
(PLEASE!)
Just wanted to post a note to
others on the board that might be hesitant about setting up the
mechanical systems. If you are interested in trading them,
automating them will seriously change your life!!!! It is not
as overwhelming as it might seem.
I'm a Canadian so my only choice
was to do an Interactive Brokers/Ninjatrader combo. I was
initially worried about how I was going to set up the code.
This is my experience. Hope I encourage others:
1. First downloaded the free
version of Ninja. Had no clue what I was doing.
Realized that I needed data inorder to do anything.
2. Started opening an
Interactive Brokers account. One problem. You need
$25,000 US inorder to be able to day trade in the account (this is
a US law I believe, so nothing to do with IB). I bit the
bullet and pulled the money from my other Canadian brokerage
account since I really wanted to give the mech systems a go.
Took me a few weeks to set up the account and get the money
transferred in.
3. Once the account was
opened and money transferred I was able to stream the live stock
data from IB through Ninja (all the instructions on how to do this
is on the Ninja website). I hired a programmer to write one
program that could be used to trade any of the systems. Chose
the programmer from a list on the Ninja website. Cost me $75
US and he did it very quickly.
4. I then decided to upgrade
Ninja so that I could actually trade through it since I wanted to
start trading the systems. They have different payment
options available.
5. Ninja holds live webinars
that are extremely helpful!!! I watched a webinar that
discussed automated trading systems and quickly realized that I
could have easily set up the code on my own.
You do not have to be a
paying member to Ninja to watch the webinars. They are
extremely helpful so I would really recommend doing that first
since it will really help you find your way around the
program!
I have been trading for a few weeks
now (mainly the SRS 15 min but will expand to others) and I have
made enough money to pay for the Ninjatrader program and BPT
membership. It's fantastic!! I don't have to be
constantly at my computer watching for signals.
The biggest challenge is letting
the system trigger when **I think** it is trading against what I
think will happen. This is usually when the most money is
made. Start out with small amounts and expect to lose money
on 40% of the trades. Your winners will make more than
your losers will lose and you will make money over time. Just
set them up every morning and let them do their thing!!!
Hope I inspire at least one person
to go ahead and take the leap. Michael and rgoodwin inspired
me a couple of months back and I am forever greatful!!
PM me if you have any
questions. I'm not at my computer as often as I used to be so
be patient if I don't respond right away.

Yup - It's weird
Anyone notice how C BAC JPM are moving higher but ...
Posted by sporopat on 5th of Aug 2009 at 11:48 am
I was thinking the same thing. The banks and real estate are remaining pretty strong while the SPX is down 8 1/2 points.
Maybe it means we have more upside before a larger more meaningful correction?

I agree as well. It is very easy to miss other people's comments if they comment on posts that are down the page or on a previous page.
I really liked the toggle system.
