Posted by smoothy on 7th of Jun 2013 at 03:04 pm

Does anyone know if Matts latest updated version of the BPT Tradestation layout is anywhere I can grab the file? I just opened a Tradestation account and would like to get a copy of the system.

Thanks,

Doug

My own situation is similar but this morning I did open accounts with Tradestation for the sole purpose of being on the same page with BPT indicators and having the capability of using them on my own. After subscribing here for awhile now (a year?...I don't know for sure) I've found Matt and Steves work to be an essential part of my investing decisions.

BTW...I found the rep over at Tradestation to be very helpful and professional and am definitely looking forward to learning the awesome platform they have created.

PGH is taking another run

PGH is taking another run at new recent highs and displaying great relative strength. Keep in mind that this is not a good trading vehicle as they issue K-1's for tax filing so I doubt anyone here will be interested now. It is however an outstanding dividend payer for old guys like me who need income for retirement. If you don't know about MLP's (master limited partnerships) you may want to start paying attention to them as long term investments. With the new found energy boom that has come to America MLP's could be an important cornerstone of any retirement plan.

FYI...Other MLP's that are recognized as among the greats...EPD, KMP. MWE.

PGH is one of my favorite high dividend payers in an income portfolio. It's having a nice up day with volume and appearing to breakout on the daily. The chart format used here is the one Matt created for us a few days ago in "freestockcharts".

daily and weekly look like an area to stay away except for a very short term trade correct?

Dollar on lows now...a dollar breakdown now would certainly surprise the markets

OK...well this member (bkout3) had a good question then... "What would you think about having a refreshable or periodically auto-updating version of say the monthly, weekly, daily and 60min chart in the Long term tools section or another page (could be password protected if you wanted only paying members to be able to access it). Would be  nice inputs for overall long/short bias."

DBA comments

For those that may not know, by trading DBA as well as any other commodity fund that operates as a partnership (BOIL, UNG, etc.) you will receive a K-1 which requires additional steps in tax filing. Many people don't want to go through it as it does add one extra complexity to filing. We work through about 15 of them each year due to ownership of tax advantaged MLP's for retirement income.

Turbo Tax handles them fair but not great and requires about 10 to 15 minutes of manual input per K-1 to ensure complete and accurate reporting.

Hope this helps someone one way or the other.

Thanks

Thanks Matt...that is a most interesting chart and considering the state of the political and economic world today I don't think a cataclysmic event is too far fetched an idea to get this ball rolling in a major way. Please keep in mind that on the same day the White House had a million dollar concert the Blue Angels were grounded. The world is already upside down. :-)

When you guys work as hard as you do, often including posts over the weekend, its a shame that some is missed because people don't check the site often enough. Solution (as suggested in the past)...have the website configured to send an email notification out whenever either of you post. i know this one would be much appreciated by many, including yours truly. Thanks and keep up the great work!
