If you are short the stock on the next Ex-Dividend Date of
September 5th you will owe the quarterly dividend of 1 cent/share,
or $10 if you are short 1,000 shares.

Matt, you show published statistics on the SPY that shows it's
more profitable to enter Longs at the close of the same day and
exit them on the open of the next day.
Why wouldn't the same principle apply to entering Shorts on
the open of the next day instead of the close of the same day?

I bought last week also, when it was testing the 9 EMA.
I'm still holding, but moved my stop up to 50% of today's range. That's my style of trading.

I wonder if you are using the closing low for that day instead of the intraday low.

Contrary to common belief on this board they have not been 100% profitable.
According to the trade history for multi-entry trades there have been 16 4th entries, including the latest one in June.
15 out of 16 have been profitable.
The one loser was a buy on 4/3/02 at 113.14. It sold for a loss on 4/11/02 at 112.89.
