Thanks, Matt! I might just sit out tomorrow entirely, since I tend not to do well on Fed days. I might sit there with my finger on the buy trigger in case of no rate hike though. That sounds like a bit of fun.

AOS could be forming a double bottom at a long term trendline. Hourly chart is also showing positive developments. (Stockcharts links not working, so I'm posting charts only.) 

Here are a few short ideas. WARNING:  I'm with Matt in thinking that a bottom may be near. However, if you are a day trader and would like a few ideas that could move if we sell off again, then perhaps you'll find a few of these useful. I'm also in the habit of buying failed breakdowns above support when they don't follow through, since that has been happening a lot lately.  As such, trade at your own risk! Dell (DVMT) still looking good here, especially considering bearish market action. Link won't work for some reason, but here's the chart. 

Here are a few short ideas (EFX, IBM, EDU) . I mostly post shorts these days simply because my watchlist is already full of longs, and I'm just trying to balance things out. Also, I generally view these as short-term trades, since the market can reverse at any point and put in a bottom (if it hasn't already done so). 2 charts in Matt's weekend newsletter also look like good shorts: IBB (under $100) and NFLX (under the small support line he drew.)

I've had a bit of success lately in shorting failed breakouts and buying failed breakdowns. Sometimes when they go in the wrong direction, they really move. It might not help the overnight traders, but day traders might watch intraday charts for good setups in these types of opportunities.
