I just heard that the TSA mistakenly posted their entire
security manual on the web with all their various procedures for
screening at airports. They just handed every terrorist a
prescription on how to beat the system.
And yet the government wants to manage health care?
I think precise terms are helpful. The current debate is really
about managing the
paymentsto doctors, hospitals and pharmaceutical
companies. Presently that is managed by insurance companies that
want money for themselves, especially their CEO's. Those same
companies are lobbying and working to undermine any change to the
existing system because they want money for themselves. They don't
want to give money to doctors or anybody else.
The only argument in favor of the current system is the one that
Greenspan used in regards to the deregulation of the financial
markets. He thought that the banks etc would act in their own best
interest in both the long and short term. He ignored the facts of
life in a competitive environment, that companies would be forced
to race to the bottom line, if they don't, company B does and then
company A is out of business.
I would like to see the profit motive removed from health
insurance. That is what single payer would give us. A middle step
would be re-regulation of the insurance industry.
'Life, Liberty and the pursuit of happiness'. Try any of those
without your health.
Choice and competition: The two buzz words of the so called
health care debate. They are also proof that the liars in
congress, um, I mean liberals really don't want lower costs. Real
choice and competition would be easy to legislate in a 2-3
page bill that would simply allow all health insurance companies to
compete nationally, in all states they chose to.
Think about car insurance, ever hear about Geico or
Progressive?? Just two examples of aggressive discounters not to
mention main line firms such as AAA, State Farm, All State, Liberty
Mutual etc.
Nope, why use a proven market based solution when they can
expand govt, raise taxes, take away freedoms, and ration health
care all while bankrupting the country at the same time???
Question: where will the intl world of single payers go when
their wait list for their needed procedure is 6 months long in
their home country and it is 6-8 months long in the USA??
Question: who is going to spend billions to develop new drugs or
lifesaving devices/techniques without some hope of reward?
Never mind they did ok in the old Soviet Union without the
latest advances in medical care and we can too!! Besides the more
people that die quickly the less strain on social security system
and on the global warming lie, er I meant problem.
Its all about surrendering your freedom if you've got a
lot of money. Me, I don't want poor people sick and begging
on the streets, or rioting. That seriously impacts MY
quality of life.
single payers -- they'll go to India, or the Caribbean where a
state of the art Indian hospital is setting up to do
procedures for a quarter of what it costs here.
Capitalism has failed miserably in this country -- why should it
be expected to miraculously work in health care or all
things?
There are no Terrorists...just 'boggy-men' used to take our
liberties away, ala Patriot Act. The TSA is nothing more than
Airport Gestapo and needs to be to be broken up so those fools can
get real jobs.
Perfect Example of Government Incompetence
