Are you looking at $TICKQ on stockcharts? It has always confused
me - it hardly ever registers below 0, even if the NDX is
declining. My version of it reads the opposite of what you are
saying - all day today it was only *below* zero for a brief
time..
I don't understand this at all. Couldn't you just buy FAS
instead of shorting FAZ? I know the system results are calculated
with FAZ but the difference should be negligible.
On chart 14 of Steve's update tonight the COMPQ has another gap
that wasn't the focus of the discussion - around 2185 to 2190. The
gap was 'honored' twice by the COMPQ, once on the way down and then
again on the way up. Does this mean the gap is more 'powerful'?
That is, does it mean that the COMPQ is all the more likely to
revisit that area? Maybe it means nothing?
I think precise terms are helpful. The current debate is really
about managing the
paymentsto doctors, hospitals and pharmaceutical
companies. Presently that is managed by insurance companies that
want money for themselves, especially their CEO's. Those same
companies are lobbying and working to undermine any change to the
existing system because they want money for themselves. They don't
want to give money to doctors or anybody else.
The only argument in favor of the current system is the one that
Greenspan used in regards to the deregulation of the financial
markets. He thought that the banks etc would act in their own best
interest in both the long and short term. He ignored the facts of
life in a competitive environment, that companies would be forced
to race to the bottom line, if they don't, company B does and then
company A is out of business.
I would like to see the profit motive removed from health
insurance. That is what single payer would give us. A middle step
would be re-regulation of the insurance industry.
