I was at my office when I heard "order cancelled" on my SRS
shares; TDAmeritrade had none to short; checking Interactive
Brokers, they had 500,000. So, before switching my account from TDA
to IB,
has anyone had problems
shorting SRS at IB?
Secondly, I also went long on URE; my backtest to Jan 1 shows a
2.77 profit factor, vs 4.48 on SRS. So using the same parameters,
URE is not as profitable as SRS, but not bad either-still tradeable
on a system.
There were a few weeks in April when the market was strong that
IB did not have many of the bear ETFs to short (SKF, SRS, QID as I
remember) --- guess some big guys had gobbled them up. Generally
however it's not a problem
I mentioned in a prior post that I thinhk it would be a wise
idea to go ahead and set up an IB account even if you are not doing
mechanical system trades. When this market startes dumping, the
likelihood of getting shorts anywhere is going to become an even
bigger issue - like it was earlier in the year. JMO, but if you
can, think about AT LEAST a small second account - costs is so
minimal and would be paid for 1 year on a good short that you would
otherwise miss.
