Hey. I've been using the MA crossover strategies for at
least 2-3 weeks with TS, now all of a sudden this AM my account was
rejecting the buys, and looked on my account, and it says
liquidating trades only. Can't find out what happened, and
they say they don't have to tell me, but I have to transfer my $
elsewhere, the computer says they don't want my money anymore, and
my contact salesman is on vacation through next
week. So what's the next best platform at least for running
the systems, and inexpensive for trades, hopefully it has good
charting? Thanks for any info, think the computer got me, and
no one seems to know anything.
Can't you keep TS, and just switch brokers? Donesn't TS have a
trading desk that can tell you what happened to your account? They
did when I had an account there. I switched to NinjaTrader to
execute trades on TDAmeritrade. I'm having some issues on the
Ameritrade side of things--works great in Sim, but the strategy
shuts down after the first round trip when I do a live trade.
They said I could keep the trading platform, but not do any more
trades. I tried to apply for a forex account a couple days
ago, that's not it they say, but talked to another salesman, and he
can't give me any answers, although he told me to wait and he'd
look into in for awhile, still can't come up with anything.
Possibly I put in too many mech. systems, came home from the store
yesterday, and it rejected an order late in the day that would have
exceeded my account balance, and said I would have to be out by the
end of the day if I took it. I guess their computer doesn't
know my strategies and custom sessions are set up to exit
everything at 15:58, it just sees that I'm trying to exceed my
account $. That's all I can think of. Possibly I can
keep the TS platform and open an account and get my orders
filled at Interactive Brokers.
Runner up here seems to be NinjaTrader running on IB data and
routing trades there. I've been using it for months with only
minor problems. One annoyance is that you have to spend maybe 10 -
15 min each morning getting the strategies going (I usually run 8
although I've cut back the last few weeks). That routine may change
when they update the program (maybe Sept although it keeps getting
delayed). Charts are good, code is based on C++ (which I don't
know) but fortunately there is a Wizard to help non code speaking
dummies with simple strategies. Support is mainly forum based so
not super fast but generally within a couple hours and board is
searchable. So generally happy but the problem is the new
systems coming up that Matt will offer in TS which I have the
impression will not be workable in Ninja (is that right Matt??),
but for now Ninja and IB are working pretty well and IB often has
things to short that TS does not.
Bkout3, just to let you know that regarding NT support, I had
some issues with backtesting recently and I emailed them. I got a
reply within half an hour and we were emailing back and forth for
several hours until the problem was solved. This was not an
isolated occasion, the last time I emailed them I got a very fast
response as well. So, pretty pleased with NT support.
