As you know, there is an EOD SRS 15 min system using the 9/39
EMA's, however here's a swing system using the same EMA's where you
hold overnight:
Parameters:
1. 9/39 EMA on a 15 min chart of SRS for market hrs
2. Stop loss of 10.5% (set with stop order)
3. Profit target of 21% (set with stop order)
4. Enter the trade SRS (Long/Short) when the EMA's
cross. Hold overnight and exit your position either on the
next EMA crossover or if your stop loss at 10.5% or profit target
at 21% is hit, which ever first.
The gains from this strategy were 3 times higher for 2008 than
selling EOD. Overall the system's gains are triple, however
there are more losers...this is the give and take you get with
swing systems, you have to be willing to accept larger losing
traders however the winning trades make up for it.
Now I do have an even better system, however it uses indicators
that are not available so therefore I'd have to manually alert you
to the trades.
Here's an example of one of the past trades of SKF 6 min swing
system with the 24% profit target! The first trade is a Long
as you can see, however notice the exit a couple days later (it
says profit target), this is where the system exited the trade
because a profit target of 24% had been met. Notice how the
price that it got you out at was a lot better than waiting for the
MA's to cross down again, which was the next day at lower prices,
about $14 lower.

matt, can you please post the backtested results from ninja of
the srs system with profit and stop loss ; i must be doing
something wrong because in my testing the eod system is better.
thank you.
yes that's a 10.5% Stop loss, seems like a lot I know, but most
of the time it's not hit and when you swing you have to give it
room. That's the number that optimization backtesting
produced

Matt, what's the stop loss value for the 6-minute SRS system?
You mentioned that the stop gain value of 24%. I am sorry if I
missed the other number on the blog. Thanks!

Matt, I just got a Trade Station account last week and have been
trying different strategy. This is what i got for SRS no EOD does
it look close to what you are talking about?

Sweet, I like your system! I've been trying to achieve something
similar myself, as I cannot practically day trade (I have a day
job). Please keep me posted on your improved system, I am
interested. thanks for sharing the fruits of your research with
us.
i shorted pcu per your watch list reccomendation at13.70 it
filled but went up to 13.92 do you think it's best to wait 30 or 60
minutes after the open to make the trades?
I generally wait 10 - 15 mins after the market opens. Also
realize trades are aggesive at this point on the short side since
the market is oversold, so only nimble traders should be shorting,
especially when a market gap down occurs like we had today that was
already very oversold

Matt,
When you get time would you mind making a sticky of the GDX:GLD ratio so we can monitor the potential of a crossover easier.
Thanks

Matt,
The daily chart for GDX appears to be forming a reverse head and shoulders pattern. Why have you only focused the the current wedge pattern?

no stop loss, I answered this on the blog in the morning, doesn't help the returns to have a stop, just use the next MA cross for a stop.
