CBOE Index options also trade 23/5. They both get the same
tax treatment. Unfortunately, I have to go through another layer of
the FINRA registration process in order to trade
futures...essentially become a CTA (unless I use a second broker
where I don't declare professional status...which, of course, I
would never do
)
Not to mention that the streaming bundle (professional
pricing) necessary for trading futures is quite expensive. Whereas,
the real time market data for CBOE is essentially free (I think
it's $4.50 per month but waived because of commision
levels).
