Tradestation makes auto trading difficult. You have to turn off
confirmations... for all trades not just the strategy last I knew.
Best to use a separate computer or setup. They also make that
difficult. Any better autotrade broakers recommended?
yes in Tradestation it's a pain when trying to
automate multiple strategies on the same instrument- for
example let's say you have 10 ES charts and you you try and
automate a separate strategy on each one of them - it doesn't like
it because Tradestation probabably assumes that you would ever only
run one strategy on one instrument at a given time - you can force
it by turning off various things, but it's kind of wonky. The
problem is the same instrument - it has no problem running multiple
strategies as long as each strategy is on a different
instrument.
I would love to try and get it working in Trading View as it
might be better suited to running multiple strategies on the same
instrument, though I us IB there and IB logs out once a day and
with the the strategies running 23 hrs a day, there are trades that
occur overnight such as 2 am etc and you clearly don't want IB auto
logging out
I would need to connect Trading View to Tradestation instead,
and then I don't have much capital in TS so I would have to add.
Again, that's just logistics issues can be solved, the first step
is getting some of these in a form first that I would be
comfortable enough to turn them on as bots and allow them to run
while I'm away, playing golf, sleeping etc LOL
there's also a program developed by a French guy that basically
runs in the background and daily resets the auto shutoff time
the problem is that through Trading View you are not running the
IB TWS program, it's Trading View connected to IB, and that appears
to lose connection.
that program I discussed only works on the TWS program - you
have to figure out a way to do this in Trading View, because you
are not using the IB software
I am thinking you could run the systems in indicators and
use global vars to pass commands to strategy. Only problem is TS
also doesn't do well with adding and subtracting from
positions.

You may not be able to keep IB from logging you out automatically, but you can have it log you in automatically. Maybe that would work for you.

For what it's worth, TWS sometimes goes 3 or 4 days for me before logging me out.
