What are we watching to time adding in downside protection?

Does it need a handle to form? Could be a year.

Definition of insanity: Making the same mistakes over and over and expecting different outcomes (in this case, the FED and the government).

I guess there is the possibility that consumers can't pay and the utilities can't stop supplying and may never get paid.

Why are utilities (XLU) suffering

Why are utilities (XLU) suffering so badly? With interest rates low and easy money for funding , I would think they should be rising.  ???

I am amazed that AMPL ENFR are suffering as much as they are . They are midstream and usually have long term agreements. The only thing I can imagine is that they get paid, in a sense, by the gallon. I would think that they will come back when the crisis is past.

I am promoting a freeze

I am promoting a freeze on loan principal portion of payments as a cash flow stimulus for individuals and business. Is instant and does not tap into the treasury. Contact your representatives if you like the idea. Thanks

Sold my XLY/XLP  pair position yesterday, sigh.  Made a super profit in spite of the additional I could have made today. Can never be sad about a profit.

Its not the Democrats that are wishing millions will die from the virus, it is the investment community who think the Fed will then have to print tons of money.

My -XLY/XLP position is working

Posted by jroger on 16th of Dec 2019 at 03:21 pm

My -XLY/XLP position is working well.  The spread between the two widened and lately XLY and XLP have moved up with the market but have maintained the spread caused by economic anxiety.

I am seeking other candidate pairs which would enjoy the same effect. They would move togeather with the market but spread more widely with any economic turn down.

Any suggestions.

My position long 2x XLP

Posted by jroger on 9th of Dec 2019 at 12:44 pm

My position long 2x XLP and short XLY  currently has a gain of 4.3%.

That could be sweet. I have an XLP / -XLY pair position which has been good so far. The idea was for a low risk play on deteriorating conditions.
