reversion to mean systems that are short

It's possible that one or more of these could close out today if we close down, especially the hi mid lo for ES. However, I've been running a backtest since early last night, it still have a few hrs to go and I want to complete that, so I can't what the open systems are doing at the moment.

on a side note one of the things I'm testing is the new Bear Long Bull strategy - but I'm testing it also on a bunch of intra day strategies. I have a version for a 5 min, 15 min, and testing a 30 min here. I will test a 45 min, a 60 min, and maybe a 2 hr. My thought is that I automate the strategy on all those time frames at once - trades do not really seem to overlap.  That's not something that can be emailed out - it has to be automated to take the trades in your account itself.  I like the idea of automating a strategy bot to just run and catch trades all day.  Again at first it cannot be for the website obviously, but I'll test it and if it looks interesting maybe we can figure something out, I have some ideas but no reason to go into that now.

I'll let you know later when I can view those open systems to see what may close out today

Maybe automate a subscriber email notification (along with the trade execution on your side). If the email followed a standard template (kept the same format, subject line, trigger words, etc., then members could use the API's for their platforms to trigger a trade on their side when an appropriate email arrives. The template would have to be exactly the same every time....or the coding would go from quite simple to difficult.  The potential lag for email wouldn't matter all that much for the longer time frames.

I can almost picture a python solution that would accomplish this....but I hear that ChatGPT can take plain language coding problems and deliver working code these days

    I had a quick play

I had a quick play with it over Xmas and it knows TradeStation's EasyLanguage code. It produced a compiled/ working indicator, albeit not quite what I asked for (in plain English). I haven't had chance to work on the code again.

I use Option Alpha for automated option trades. But it's definitely a work in progress and not altogether that useful for this type of trading (yet).  But certainly has the potential to be in the future.

    wow that sounds very exciting

wow that sounds very exciting Matt. I think for traders in front of the screen all day, a dashboard will be a great idea.

Minervini even has an app for his clients to receive notifications.

    Tradestation makes auto trading difficult.

Tradestation makes auto trading difficult. You have to turn off confirmations... for all trades not just the strategy last I knew. Best to use a separate computer or  setup. They also make that difficult. Any better autotrade broakers recommended?

yes in Tradestation it's a pain when trying to automate multiple strategies on the same instrument- for example let's say you have 10 ES charts and you you try and automate a separate strategy on each one of them - it doesn't like it because Tradestation probabably assumes that you would ever only run one strategy on one instrument at a given time - you can force it by turning off various things, but it's kind of wonky. The problem is the same instrument - it has no problem running multiple strategies as long as each strategy is on a different instrument.

I would love to try and get it working in Trading View as it might be better suited to running multiple strategies on the same instrument, though I us IB there and IB logs out once a day and with the the strategies running 23 hrs a day, there are trades that occur overnight such as 2 am etc and you clearly don't want IB auto logging out

I would need to connect Trading View to Tradestation instead, and then I don't have much capital in TS so I would have to add. Again, that's just logistics issues can be solved, the first step is getting some of these in a form first that I would be comfortable enough to turn them on as bots and allow them to run while I'm away, playing golf, sleeping etc LOL

    You may not be able

You may not be able to keep IB from logging you out automatically, but you can have it log you in automatically.  Maybe that would work for you.

For what it's worth, TWS sometimes goes 3 or 4 days for me before logging me out.

    there's also a program developed

Posted by matt on 13th of Jan 2023 at 11:09 am

there's also a program developed by a French guy that basically runs in the background and daily resets the auto shutoff time

the problem is that through Trading View you are not running the IB TWS program, it's Trading View connected to IB, and that appears to lose connection.

that program I discussed only works on the TWS program - you have to figure out a way to do this in Trading View, because you are not using the IB software

    I am thinking you could

I am thinking you could run the systems in  indicators and use global vars to pass commands to strategy. Only problem is TS also doesn't do well with adding and subtracting from positions.
