Does anyone have an opinion on Demark indicators? I have been a
user for a long time and find the trade ideas here and the Demark
indicators are one powerful combination.

That DeMark count sequence is pretty cool, I've been aware of it
but never really looked into it. I think I could incorporate
some of that into my systems eventually.

I have been a user for a long time. The setup and the countdown
(the 9 and the 13 counts) are pretty awesome - but he has
instituted a number of other indicators and I use a total of about
7. Extremely good stuff. nothing is perfect but it is the best way
I have found for identifying high probability points for a change
in trend.
yes from what I gathered you used to be able to buy a to
download a ton of DeMark indicators and systems, but DeMark and his
aggressive legal team went on a tirade back in 2010 / 11 and shut
down every blog and website that had them, well forced them to
remove them, so they are hard to find now. You can lease them
for $500 a month from DeMarks website, whick is clearly
institutional not for the average guy.
that said the basis stuff looks easy to code, the 9/13 stuff,
it's simple logic, i.e. that I could have my programmer knock out
quickly.

In short the basic DeMark setup consists of the following:
A series of nine consecutive
bars that close higher or lower than the close 4 bars earlier.
(Bars are “period” candlesticks — periods can be minute, hourly,
daily, weekly, monthly, etc…).
9 consecutive closes “higher”
than the close 4 bars prior records a “sell setup” and 9
consecutive closes “lower” than the close 4 bars prior records a
“buy setup.”
A “sell setup” is “perfected”
when the the high of bars 6 and 7 in the count are exceeded by
the high of bars 8 or 9 and a “buy setup” is likewise “perfected”
when the low of bars 6 and 7 in the count are exceeded by the low
of bars 8 or 9. A “perfected” setup tends to be a better indicator,
as unperfected setups often are perfected at a later date.
After a setup records, a
reaction in opposite direction has a higher probability during the
next 1-4 bars.

As I understand it people were coding it on their own, and
offering it up for sale. That was what they went after. They don't
want to charge the money from Bloomberg, and in fact it used to be
free on BBG about 10 years ago. But one time there was some bug and
they said for everyone to ask the BBG help desk about it and the
help desk was flooded with 30,000 requests at the same time. So BBG
said they needed to charge for it. Regardless, its very good
stuff.
He only has about 150 indicators at this point, but the basic
sequential indicators from the 70s are pretty good. Who's going to
have access to them on this board, though? As the article points
out, you need to understand them well. I've talked with Jason Perl
before and have his book, but haven't had access to TD indicators
for a while. You may recall that Demark has had at least one pretty
big call fail in the latter part of this bull market. But are you
proposing to share signals or what?

Agree with Matt. I have a bloomberg terminal that i have the
indicators on. But I find my style of locating patterns, etc and
finding entries with demark to fit me. All I was asking was whether
or not anyone else used them as I do not come across that many that
do.
yeah indicators smindicators. remember the discussion yesterday,
find something that fits your style, a methodogy and stick to it,
the traders who make money consistently all have a style and a
methodology system, something that they do over and over again vs
bouncing around like a ball from one thing to another. For
some people, they may use a Demark indicator, others use something
else, some only look at patterns and volume, I've shown some things
that I do that may work for you or they may not. It's
important to go through a discovery and try things, but eventually
to be profitiable in the long term you have to find something that
works for you and stick to it
