We are debating the table idea but the problem remains what to
do with the pending trade. So we put the pending trade in the
table and then remove it after the close if it does not
trigger? I gotta say that I think people might have an issue
with understanding that, at least at first. I can already hear the
"well I logged in and saw the trade in the table...". Do all
of you really think that would work for you and it would be clear
for you? I don't ask that antagonistically but
honestly. We will work to give you what you want but we are
trying to manage many behind the scenes variables which come into
play and frankly we have experienced members jumping the gun and
overreacting a bit.
An example, we had someone log into the system and it said
your not current signed up so add a membership etc. You know,
the disclaimer - you likely have had it happen before. Well
because it said buy a membership or add a membership they bought
SPY.
pdani:
The Current Trade tab is meant to be the one stop shop.
Why there is redundancy is because we post in 1 spot for everything
(besides the SPY blog). It is actually quite efficient and
productive for us. One click sends to the email, SMS, posts
to the website etc. Want us to move the Current Trade tab out
of the individual system's tabs and have it somewhere else?
I believe we do a more than adequate job answering
questions. If there were less questions then I think we could
be even faster at answering the ones that come in. My
recommendation for answering questions is this: Post on the blog,
the community is very helpful but to ensure your request doesn't
get overlooked and eventually end up on a back page also PM myself
or Matt OR go to the Contact page and send in a question for the
SPY System. If you get the answer immediately from the post
then your good, if not there should be no reason for you to not get
a response from the team from the Contact form.
OK, Recap:
1. Do you want the table and then have the alerts there even
if they are pending? Want a pending table and a triggered
table (man that seems like so much for one signal)? Others?
2. Want the Current Trade tab taken out and placed somewhere
else? pdani I realize you want to auto-refresh the
page. That is a problem with the tabs because they are
applications inside the page but IT now published the current GDX
prices on the GDX page, we might be able, especially if there is a
table, have them post it somewhere where it can auto-refresh and be
refreshed. Do you like that idea?
3. Feel free to utilize the board but think about doubling up
and asking the question through the Contact form to help ensure you
get a BPT sanctioned response.
We are open and not so arrogant to think we got it perfect the
first time but if people don't share you will end up with what the
squeaky wheel wants and that may not serve you best. We will
almost assuredly not be able to fulfill every idea or request but
we are open to all reasonable ideas and requests.
IMO the current facility is fairly simple and easy to apply
though I don't mind the idea of a sticky at the top that reads the
same as the email alert.
Further i think having access to the CURRENT TRADE tab at the
top of this page would be handy too.
Another angle is having stickys do what the CURRENT TRADE tab
does but could be colour coded and worded simply.
EG stickys at the top would firstly be alerts orange (PENDING?)
until they are green light for 'ON' (trade entered) or red light
and 'OFF' (in cash) with normal entry exit stipulation. Lose
outdated stickys as new ones are added.
Not sure about the refresh hurdle though i think focus on the
email alerts should be priority.

I don't think you should put pending trades in a table. Your
communication includes an e-mail, SMS text if you sign up for it,
and the current trade tab.
I may be an outlier but I don't see any need for big
changes.
We get the SPY system e mail alert, we check the website
under the current trade tab and follow the instruction. The only
thing that could be tightened up is the language of the trade
instruction. I think that is what caused this recent dust-up.
That should be easy to correct, as I think only one word caused
the confusion.
I think a manual REFRESH button for the website sections:
SPY Current Alert and
Trading Community: SPYwould be a real plus. As it
seems to me now, I'm never sure how to get the latest update for
these pieces of info. Hitting the browser refresh buttons
seem to take me to places I don't expect to go. So, I detour
to MEMBERS HOME, and then click down the path to what I had been
looking at in the first place -- which I assume was not current.
The interface could be a simple page button:
REFRESH Clicking this button would guarantee that the
subscriber is always looking at the latest info for these
pages. Better yet, put a refresh button on all pages that
don't refresh themselves when changes occur on the website.

I think the format and alerts on the current general community
Watch List works well. Is there a way that can be adapted for the
SPY system? In other words, SPY system members would be able to
click into the SPY System from the left nav and have the default
tab be a "watch list" table that would have one line for Single
Entry System and 4 lines for Multi Entry System. Alerts for
untriggered trades (assuming a trade was imminent) could flash like
they currently do. The untriggered section would be blank if a
trade was not imminent. Similarly, there could be a triggered trade
section for both Single and Multi Entry Systems
underneath.
I also would want the sticky note to appear in the SPY System
Blog as well as the emails and SMS messages to continue. This
watchlist approach would provide in a single left nav click all the
info we need.
I think that there should be one setting for each system (single
entry and multiple entry): Current Position. If a trade
is pending, then place it on that table and lable it as pending,
something like: "Long if SPY closes at or below 130."
Then, when the trade has triggered or not, change the text to
indicate that, so that it reads "In Cash," or "Long SPY from
130."
The multiple entry table would be the same, except that it would
indicate the current entry and subsequent entries.
Sell and short signals would work the same.

a clean and simple table would do away with any confusion re wording...

How about something simple like...
Posted by mamaduck on 17th of May 2011 at 08:44 pm
a simple table that when in cash, shows in Cash (first picture)
And when the various stages trigger or are about to trigger, you fill them out (2nd picture)?
Once the trade is complete, you can replace it with the system in Cash set up...
excellent!

Buy if SPY closes < XXX.XX is clear enough.
I agree - it's good just the way it is.
