All, Peter developed some mechanical systems that are really
pretty awesome and we plan to offer these in the future. The
systems are based on the ETF's, such as SPY, SSO, QLD, UWM
etc. The systems are 'true' end of day systems i.e. the
signals come about 15 min before the market closes and you simply
buy or short the stock/index at the close, that's it! The
average hold time for these systems is about 5 - 7 days, so they
are true swing systems. These are suited ideally for
people who work jobs, etc. Our plan would be to alert you via
email that the systems triggered and we also have an option for SMS
text messaging i.e. our server would send a text message to your
phone to alert you (of course we may charge a nominal fee for
that). The systems do not use MA's or pivots, they are
totally custom.
As far as system results, they are awesome; the systems have
anywhere from 85% - 90% winning trades. Also the profit
factor on the systems are awesome, for example for SSO the profit
factor is 21, on UWM the profit factor is 47!!!
Just to give you an example of what a profit factor of 47 is
like, that means that if the system made 246K in gross profit, only
5.2K would be losses.
The systems do a only a few trades a month.
We also have a SPX system that goes back 25 years, it does
several trades a month and only has 8 losing months in 25 yeas and
this is the worst system out of these as far as profit factor
etc! SSO, QLD, UWM are far better but of course only go back
a few years. we also have a SPY system that goes back o 1994
that is really good.
Since these systems are based on closing prices and since they
are very liquid ETF's like SPY, QLD, UWM and SPX index, and because
the number of trades is minimal, slippage is not an
issue.
I will post more details over time as I have them, as well as
examples. Currently these are programmed in multicharts
primarily.
The why the trades are done is different than our other
systems! Instead of entering into a trade all at once, you
scale in to most trades, i.e. the average trade has 2 scale ins,
with some trades only having one entry, and the most having
3. What this means is that one day you buy a partial position
of say 20% of your intended position, then the next signal you buy
40%. and of course you close them all out at the same time.
I've attached a few examples of SSO and UWM with the profit
factors, % winning trades, etc. We have several versions of
these, some hold trades longer while others exit in about 4 - 5
days. The longer term UWM for example has a profit factor of
88 and is still long from Feb 4th, at the bottom!
Again this is only preliminary, more details will come in the
next few weeks. These systems will NOT be put into the normal place
on the website, they will have their own section.
The good thing is that you will not need TS or any
special thing to run these systems; we would send out an
email 15 min before the market closes and you would then enter the
trade at the close!
The system looks fantastic and just what us worker bees(people
who work a day job) need to stay interested in the game. I look
forward to your introducing this in the next few weeks. Will this
only be written for Multicharts or will it be available on the
Ninja Trader platform?
You say that this material will be in a separate section.
Will it be available to subscribers as part of their
subscription? Will the email alerts also be part of the
subscription?
Thanks Matt for the continued good work. This site is
wonderful.
thanks for the feedback, it's as close to the 'grail' as I have
seen so far. I can plug in
pretty much any stock or
index and it works, no optimization.
All trades are executed at the close of the day and generally
held for 4 - 7 days, so it's truly an EOD system, and with like 90%
winning trades or higher. However generally you only get
about 2 - 3trades a month (but these are generally held ofr 4 - 7
days). However many of the trades are 'scaled into', trades
can either have 1, 2, or 3 scale-ins. For example some trades
will be one trade, i.e. one entry and one exit. However some
trades would have 2 or 3 scale-ins over a 2 - 3 day period, then
you would sell it all a the same time maybe 4 - 7 days later on the
close, NOT intra day. None of the trades are entered intra
day, they are all based on the closing price. Also for scale
in entries, it would work as follows: you buy 20% of your
intended position on the first signal, then 40% on the second
entry, and 40% on the 3rd. So you have to decide your total
dollar amount that you would allocate to each system and use a
percentage for each trade, but we'll have more details on
this. The alerts we would send out would say, buy a 20%
position of SSO at the close etc.
how it will work is there will be a separte subscription; we
would email the trades at 15 min before the market closes, then you
would enter the trade on the close. We also have an SMS text
messaging service where we could send a signal to your cell phone
to alert you incase you were not at the computer
Just to get this clear: does "on the close" mean that the
trade is entered after the market closes and actually takes place
when the market opens the following day?
all the stats are on the market close, NOT the next day, so you
would want to enter the trade as close to the close as
possible. You will get a notification 15 min before the
market closes, so that's plenty of time. Or you enter the
closing price or better, so if you can get the closing price the
next day, well you can do that. But all the stats are built
with EOD entries.
Again more details will be forthcoming with charts, example
trades, etc and how it will all work with notification.
Sounds good. But I really would like to see the 401K manager you
talked about on the blog 3/4/10. I think everyone has A 401K and
most members would use bennifit
