$NTRS Northern Trust missed Q2 earnings and are up 13%. My buddy has worked there for 15 years (since college) and says everyone is dumbfounded in the office today.

Thanks for the advice, you and Matt! I think need to get out of this very heavy short position at hopefully not much of a loss and then stop trading on feelings and stick to a new plan. If I sell now then I know that it'll quickly reverse, that's just it goes for me but I'm working on that.

The bad part for me is two-fold because I missed this YUGE rally and I was short at the same time

Good point digi, but when do people wake up and realize they're sandbagging the expectations? I don't think it'll ever stop. 

They'll all beat expectations. Every bank has a portfolio of 2% mortgages and are giving out >4% in HYSAs and yet they keep making record earnings. No clue how that works!
