Example of a long setup tonight

Just pinging this topic.   I hear you talk about "cycle low" in the newsletter, but I don't understand what these are referring to.   Is it just the name of an indicator or something more fundamental?  I did do a search but couldn't find an explanation.  Thanks!

I meant C is higher than A.

Thanks Goldnice.   I think I've seen Matt & Steve show ABC pullbacks where C is higher than B.   Is this possible on this chart?

TDA has been terrible since the crash and the associated uptick in trading volume.  I logged on to see $0 balance in my accounts, waited 40 minutes for a support rep, had the platform not find the option that I am trying to get out of delaying my trade by 20min etc.    They are dealing with a lot of novice traders.   The #1 uptrending article on their support page is "What is a margin call?" :)

Goldnice - What I know about Elliot waves can be written on a postage stamp.   What makes this the "highest probability" wave count?   How do you calculate probabilities of wave counts?

@Arun - You said "Mortality is less than 0.05% in NYC".   So why does the official NYC data show 17,300 confirmed COVID deaths and 205,405 cases - an 8% mortality rate.   Am I getting my definitions mixed up?    https://www1.nyc.gov/site/doh/covid/covid-19-data.page

Matt - Appreciate you trying to fix the email alerts.   The automated systems with alerts are what I personally value the most.   Some days I am able to check in on the forums but mostly not.

Hey Erik - I got

big follow through on FCEL

Posted by z0ned on 10th of Jun 2020 at 05:38 pm

Hey Erik - I got in on the BE trade today following the post on this board 2 days ago, before it blasted.   https://breakpointtrades.com/blog/post/324053/.  Use the search feature and you will normally see a stock mentioned before it blasts.   The blast post is just a follow up.   You can also check the "Trade Ideas" page under the Newsletters menu - I didnt find that until a week or so after I joined :)

Matt- that's exactly what I have been doing - trading too late and not giving enough wiggle room.   This aint easy! :)  I've been trying something different over the last week.   I've been setting up trade entries to trigger on your alert entry price and automatically generating the stop order using the ToS order trigger feature.   That gets me in with a defined loss but I still struggle with knowing when to get out.   As soon as I have made a few % I like to move my stop to break even.   If I make a big % I'll sell half and let the other run (like BE today).   But in the end, I still end up having to watch the stocks as if I were day trading.    I'll be OK just moving back to the end of day SPY and 401K system alerts when those are up and running again.

Technical analysis increases your probabilities, it doesn't give you certainties.

TWLO coiling.

TWLO coiling.

Thanks Matt.   What criteria do you use to exit the trade?

PEP coiling.  Anything that makes this setup look good/bad?

Sigh.

Sigh.

Rough day for the metals....

Which instrument?

Thanks Matt.   The ABC trade yesterday would be a good example.  In the newsletter you said that this trade gave a 17 point move.   What was your trigger to get in right at the bottom (c)?  How did you know the ABC was complete?  Once in, what was your stop?  How was this determined?  What data did you use to get out at the high?  How did you know the run was done?   Thanks to you and Steve and I am getting better at the entry but still flounder a lot on stops and exits.   Cheers - Matt.

Feature Request: Trade Deep Dive

Feature Request: Trade Deep Dive - Guys I would like to request that once a week you do a deep dive in to one of your successful trades for the week.  I would like to see you discuss the set up, the trigger, your stop and price target with the rationale behind all of those.    Initially I would like to see you cover an intraday trade as I am struggling to make profitable intraday trade.   Thanks for your consideration.
