Meaning I guess that the downtrend has been negated and we are now into a new uptrend, yes? If so it looks like a retest of 1148 is underway. Okay, I hope I am getting the hang of this....  Thanks Steve.

Meaning of the big rally?

Steve, Matt, or any posters, is today's rally a negation of the downtrend? If not, is it then a good place to short the S&P or buy SDS? Somebody has to ask these obvious questions....  Thanks!

SDS trade - 60 min vs 30 min

Posted by frtaylor on 21st of Sep 2010 at 04:05 pm

Nice, thank you.

Thanks - I am watching too many possible trades and getting a little careless. So, 89 STO for the 30 min, not 60 STO. Again, thanks for the trading lesson.

SDS trade - 60 min vs 30 min

Posted by frtaylor on 21st of Sep 2010 at 03:37 pm

Matt, Steve, or anyone else - I'm watching the SDS, waiting for a trade signal from the 60 STO. Given that the 60 STO on the 30 min is going to cross before the one on the 60 min chart, does this simply mean the former is a quicker trade while the latter a longer swing trade? How to think about these two charts and trading the SDS?

FAST - going anywhere?

Posted by frtaylor on 21st of Sep 2010 at 01:35 pm

Hey all, I bought FAST yesterday based on Steve's chart. Hasn't done anything at all today. Do you think it's still a good probability trade, or does the fact that it's stalling today mean it's weak, etc.? Any input would be appreciated for this greenhorn.

so much for my Visa trade

It's back above 70. I did sell 1/2 when it hit 65 and change.

You may want to reconsider this trade and possibly exit: StockCharts, for whatever reason, incorrectly shows the Sept 1st high as 18.65, whereas if you look elsewhere you will find the high was actaully 18.98. So, it has not broken out at all! Matt and I just conferred on this.

Breakouts that retreat intraday?

Posted by frtaylor on 20th of Sep 2010 at 12:04 pm

Matt, Steve, others:

How do you view b/o's that retreat intraday? We are seeing this right now w/ BRKR and GEOY.  Is this a redflag to be cautious of them (if you didn't already buy) or is it simply a good opportunity to get in on an intraday low?

Man, what is wrong w/ Fidelity? Their chart shows the high of the day on Sept 1st as 18.98!

Why over 18.70 and not 18.98, which is the previous high on Sept 1st?

I'm waiting for that 60 STO to break above 20%, not going to go in before then.
