rank10, what would you consider a valid b/o point? To me, new to technical trading, if you extend that downtrend resistance line it appears it has already pierced it, no?

BRKR trade idea

Matt, could one reasonably interpret the last 5 or so days as a bull flag that, beginning yesterday, is seeing a b/o? In that case one would go long now, right? Except of course for that pesky resistance overhead. I guess I'm asking your views on the merits of getting in now vs waiting for that overhead resistance to break. Thoughts?

And again, thank you for posting! I'm in from yesterday near the close.

Thanks for this one, Matt!

A trade idea

Thanks for this one, Matt! It's moving up nicely this morning!

IB Trader Workstation charting

but slow stochastics use a different formula for %k - it's actually the %D from the fast stochastics (according to stockcharts.com). So, changing the values for %K and %D in the fast stochastics will not produce the same study as the slow stochastics. I know, I tried it - trying to replicate Matt's SDS chart of this morning.  Anyway, Palladin, what do you use, stockcharts.com? Or another service? I tried to use freestockcharts, but again they only provide fast stochastics, which I also verified by trying and failing to replicate Matt's SDS chart. Ugh! very frustrating.

IB Trader Workstation charting

Anyone know whether you can use Trader Workstation to build charts w/ slow stochastics on it? It appears to me you can only do fast stochastics, but I am new to TW and am not sure if I am understanding what I'm seeing.

Yesterday has been erased, and then some. Wow.

Matt had posted MOS as

MOS

Posted by frtaylor on 14th of Sep 2010 at 08:29 am

Matt had posted MOS as an objective bullish setup on 8th Sept, so I am confused about whether this is still the good trade idea it was when he posted it. I am in trade, having bought when it did in fact begin to break out, but it's pulled back since. Steve I guess you're saying it's no longer got the potential it had last week given the exhaustion in the ag sector since then?

Alternate instrument for GDX short

Posted by frtaylor on 14th of Sep 2010 at 08:16 am

Hi all,

I want to trade the GDX swing system in both directions in my IRA, but of course can't go short in my IRA. Matt mentioned there is a member that uses a mutual fund pair (bull/bear) to be in both sides of the GDX swing trade in their IRA. If you know what these two funds are, please share. I'd like to save Matt the trouble of looking back through his inbox etc. to find the names. Thanks in advance.

YUM

Matt mentioned on the newsletter that the technical trade measured up 4 to 5 points, so that takes it up to 47 -48.

what became of the DY trade?

Posted by frtaylor on 1st of Sep 2010 at 10:18 am

The chart on DY, put out last week, looked pretty good to my (admittedly untutored) eyes. But I got stopped out this morning. How to think about a trade like that? Is it still valid, or is today's move cancelling the validity of that trade?

good you stayed your hand....
