Interesting free site I stumbled upon: seasonalcharts.com
Turns out that election years differ a little from
non-election years. In election years (contrary to the sell-in-May
scenario) there's a significant dip during the first half of
December.

Hey - call me a namby-pamby if you like, but why is everybody
suddenly blaming the deer? WE took away their land. The existance
of deer is no reason for no gun control. Sorry this is WAY off
topic and I wasn't going to post anything, but readers should know
that there are other opinions out there.Accidents happen. Matt
thank goodness you're ok!

Speaking with my mother's bank manager yesterday about what to
do with her expiring GIC's. He suggested something called "Equity
Powered GIC".
The bank chooses a basket of 10 stocks which you pay for. Your
principle is guaranteed so you can't lose, but your gain is limited
to 7% over 2 years and the bank keeps the rest.
In other words, I said, the banks are now buying stocks!! He
said this was instigated in 2012 or 2013. BMO was the first to do
it.

But the SPY pro system still has one of the the subsystems 100%
long. And the BPT ma deluxe is still long. So I'm inclined to think
market a little more likely to resolve to the upside. But hey -
anything can happen. Obviously I'm not a short term day-trader.

Please don't dumb it down for us! It would probably be less work
for you and I think you're overworked already. If you just let us
know which subsystem triggers when, and we can take it from there.
And don't be discouraged by a few whiners. I'm sure there are
lots of shy silent members who also appreciate what BreakPoint
Trades is and does!

Hi FRTaylor - been thinking about your question. The first
obvious answer is no, because vix is a reflection of what the
market is doing so vix can't lead the market.
BUT, sometimes a pattern might be recognized on the vix chart
before it's recognized on the spx chart - like head and shoulders
or overbought or I dunno, whatever.
So, you might have a point.
Posted by sschulman on 14th of Sep 2016 at 10:41 pm
So even though another subsystem (QE long) has given a signal,
the system as a whole is already 100% long so the system doesn't
add another long entry. Is that correct? That's what you mean by
"the same trade"?
If so, what do we do in the future if one subsystem is short and
another is long? I mean, of course you'll say we can do whatever we
want :-) ... but what does the system as a whole do?

Thanks Matt you DID voice your concerns about market direction.
AND you did voice your concerns about the large drawdowns with this
particular sub-system. Not a great first trade for me so far with
SPY Pro, but I'll not get too emotional and stick with it.
