Refiners- Wells Fargo tgts

Posted by parkridge77 on 20th of Feb 2013 at 12:13 pm

been an incredible run  for refiners this fall/winter- $$$- on glut & discount to Brent - but all eyes on pipeline ops-Seaway getitng up to capacity- maybe late MAY-- that would erosde discount- but as of Friday I read  spread still 20.50-

Read following re:   Wells Fargo on tgts- might be some trades in there for thosemonitoring refiners:

11:39 AM Wells Fargo is generally upbeat on the refining sector but believes inland differentials will decline as 2013 unfolds, and favors coastal refiners Marathon Petroleum (MPC), Valero Energy (VLO) and Tesoro (TSO). The firm hikes its valuation range on MPC to $100-$104 from $87-$91, on VLO to $54-$56 from $50-$52, and on TSO to $71-$74 from $62-$64. Read

WPRT & major companies its involved & or partnered with- the technology & the impressive roster- has market/investor attention-- traders can ride those coattails at times -

majors- to name a few-- CAT,Peterbilt,F, GM, Weichai Power

BUT Still not turning a profit-

I am also following westport for investment- latest LA deal- also it's collaboration with US partners in China - addressing car exhaust pollution- trying to track

Cummins Westport Inc., a joint venture of Cummins Inc. and Westport Innovations Inc., recently announced that LA Metro plans to order 550 New Flyer Xcelsior natural gas buses, which are powered by the company's ISL G 8.9 liter engine. The buses will be deployed in 2014 and 2015 with an option to purchase an additional 350 buses in 2016

"Substantial orders such as these from LA Metro and San Diego are ongoing evidence of the growing acceptance of natural gas in the transit market," said Jim Arthurs, President, Cummins Westport.

This from energy board on Investor Village site-- drillers like RIG,ESV  could be affected- SLB is an oil services provider ( like HAL)

Re: U.S. Halts Drilling on Gulf Wells With Flawed Bolts!!!!

Only two BOPs showed the cracking and were forced to stop drilling and replace the bolts.  The one that had the leak that forced the review is already fixed.  This is only a potential issue for the Hydrill BOPs, of which their are only 20 total in the GOM, so 17 left max.  The next time the BOP is brought up on those 17 the bolts will be inspected to see if they are problematic.  It may be costly for ESV and RIG which own 19 of the 20, but not going to shut down drilling for any real length of time.  Remeber, the safety alert is only for these GE bolts on the Hydrill BOPs, and only those bolts on the LMRP connector, not the entire BOP.  All NOV and CAM BOPs are fine and not part of this safety alert.  Again, this is not a big deal to GOM production.

XLE and BPENER system

Posted by parkridge77 on 30th of Jan 2013 at 04:46 pm

XLE/BPNER- thnx Matt-- I  was wondering what the specific triggers were for system to go to cash? Is it the usual suspects ? RSI bit overextended , stochs above 80 for a few days- so just prudent to take it off  here on big run up?  OR does system see ( & use) more specific triggers/ tgts  to go long, or to cash ?  Just trying to grasp the whys & wherefores.

Thnx

XLE/BPNER System- Matt why is

MCP- debt offering to help pay for mining costs in Ca.- also unusual arrnagement with Morgan Stanleyon this offering- lending MS stock to faciliate deal?! Odd

Along with the stock sale and debt offering, Molycorp said it also will lend Morgan Stanley Capital Services LLC up to $40 million of common stock in order to “facilitate” the notes offering. Molycorp said it won’t receive any proceeds from the sale of the shares it’s lending to Morgan Stanley, but it will get a “nominal lending fee” from Morgan Stanley to use for general corporate purposes.

interesting- reversion to the mean?  wonder how Rimm would overlay ?!

sorry can't get chart to post- certainly not a perfect right shoulder in the pattern- but technicians out there calling this a h&s pattern- with head at 710 & neckline at 500-  downside measured move target would be  300  over time.  Matt & Steve- do you see this, too?  thnx

  APPL- CC- 5pm - Looks

Posted by parkridge77 on 23rd of Jan 2013 at 04:59 pm

APPL- CC- 5pm - Looks like sales up but earings are bascially flat---- so growth story concerns but

in reality the eps average for two years is about $48+  - still amazing

from  internet post:

The call will start at 5:00 p.m. eastern time. In the mean time, here's the scorecard:

  • EPS: $13.81, compared to analyst estimates of $13.53.
  • Revenue: $54.5 billion, compared to analyst estimates of $54.9 billion.
  • Outlook: $41 billion to $43 billion, compared to estimates of $45.5 billion.
  • iPad: 22.9 million, compared to 15.43 million in Q1 last year.
  • Profit: $13.1 billion, compared to $13.06 billion last year.

GG-- that would be $1,000 /oz.  cash cost

GG-a few notes from WSJ 1/9 for any swing traders

: GG says it's all in sustaining cash cost in 2013 likely to rise 21.4%- to more than 1,00 oz this year. Costs going up faster than the gold price- so far analysts expecting average of 1753- 5.2% increase over 2012
