does anyone no if there is a good capital gains calculator out
there to figure your short term capital gains? I use IB and
do not know if they provide one or if there is a good one on the
internet. Thanks
Have you looked over the reports IB offers? I ran across this
comment: "I trade through Interactivebrokers and their year-end
report gives you a complete breakdown stock by stock with totals of
your short and long term capital gains, plus.interest and dividends
received.
All I do is print it out and give it to my accountant and we
declare the numbers as given by IB. I see no need to do any other
work as IB has pretty much done it all for you already."
Otherwise look into gainskeeper. IB data can be downloaded into
it and it calculates wash sales. Let us know which way you go. BTW
I think Ameritrade users can get gainskeeper for free.
Not sure about that question, but a friend sent me some info
about a company that has software that even TS can use for
calculating WASH SALES. It costs about $200 per year I guess. I
have not had a chance to really investigate but I would be happy to
pass on the company name. If a few folks respond on this, I'll just
post it to the blog - I have to go find it in my emails though!
