NYSE TICK spike levels above 1000

Posted by matt on 11th of Apr 2024 at 10:19 am

I haven't shown this in a while, shows the TICK levels on the SPX cash going back over a year, when the TICK spikes over 1000, it creates support/resistance areas

here's the chart, this morning we lost the 5163 level from March 8th. There was an air pocket to the next one at 5135 from March 7th. Below that there's another air pocket to the next one at 5113, from March 6th. Generally when one of these are broken, price moves to the next level, especially if there's an air pocket

currently price is nearing the 5135 and holding it, but if that is lost then a quick drop to 5113  may occur

I used to have a Tradingview workspace with these, I have to rebuild that, once I do I'll share so that you can monitor them

    there's that NYSE tick chart

there's that NYSE tick chart for SPX, big level around this 5113 tick spike going back to March 6th, a good loss of this could have prices melt down in that air pocket to the next tick level at 5091.  Earlier this area was tested and bounced, yes went a few points below, but these tick levels are really zones +/- 5 points.

and earlier today when price fell through that 5135 level, price did indeed fall to the next level at 5113 as it was an air pocket as well

    updated TICK chart for SPX

updated TICK chart for SPX cash

once that 5153 tick spike from March 6th was lost price flushed

that said, the scary thing here is that there's a big thin zone, basically you have a TICK level at 5091 form Feb 29th, and there's not another level until 5019 from Feb 9th, that's a long way down

    remember a long ways to

remember a long ways to that next TICK at 5019/20

    remember there's an air pocket

remember there's an air pocket big gap between those past NYSE TICK spikes over 1000.

Tick levels are 5091 to 5019, it's rare to see that big of a gap between the TICK levels, 70 points!  usually once a level is broken price eventually moves to the next pivot.

most of the time you only have gaps of 5 or 10 points between the levels, so this is a big air pocket

tag your it!  remember I've been

    tag your it!

remember I've been showing the TICK data and pointed out that air pocket form 5091 to 5019 and said that it would likely be filled, price now at the 5019 tick level

if this is lost, the next one is 5005

    SPX bounced right off that

Posted by matt on 17th of Apr 2024 at 12:15 pm

SPX bounced right off that pivot for now, price filled that big air pocket, which was a magnet

TICKS ?? -- for those of us stuck in the past--    are you measuring price points every time TICKS  spike up or down 1000 or more --and those levels are a support or resistance level to be monitored ??

    here comes 5005

nice that you were monitor, those TICK levels are amazing honestly. I need to place those levels on the trading view again.

I could probably release the Tradestation code for that for folks who have it

    SPX - market internals were

SPX - market internals were actually very bad / confirming yesterday. They were so negative that a guy I follow was suggesting they are near washout levels in the short term. It's been a while since we had internals completely confirm like they did yesterday.
