Confirmation bias - Powell literally just said that they
continue to search for readings that confirm their view that
inflation is going down.
"Confirmation bias, a phrase coined by English psychologist
Peter Wason, is the tendency of people to favor information that
confirms or strengthens their beliefs or values and is difficult to
dislodge once affirmed."
unfortunately that happens in science too, researchers go into a
study with a strong bias and at times overly emphasize data that
favors their bias and ignore data that doesn't - I saw that
when I worked in the research lab
