hi guys, just checking in here from a friends house as I'll be
on the road in a bit.
Regarding the systems the DVDS short closed out yesterday! When
I spoke to James he was telling me that it wasn't going to close
out. Again James is not me, he doesn't understand all the nuances
of the systems and dumb things with Tradestatation where for ES
futures you really need to see the next bar opening at 6 pm and
hard refresh the data.
anyway here's an image of the DVDS system. I'm showing two
systems here, the one on the left is the original version, of
which the 2nd and 3rd entries closed out profitable except for the
1st entry. The version on the right shows the version I will be
using going forward - it also exited and notice that this one took
an extra short trade in January and closed out in a day, and for
this one ALL THREE entries were profitable
ultimately that morning bounce failed as expected so price most
likely going back to test the lows or make another low. I won't be
around to trade it though. If the market dumps hard again, we'll
start seeing 2nd entries on some of those long systems.
and remember, each system is meant to stand alone on its own. I
share the trade signals to all the systems, and at times multiple
systems may scale into a strong pullback, if you wish to limit
exposure you can keep position sizes small or you don't have to
trade al the sub systems, for example if 3 systems are long, you
may choose to only play 1 or 2 of them, it's all up to you, we
simply share the trade signals to all the systems.
When I get back home I'm excited to complete this next bar
versions of the systems, that will make it easier trying to enter
trades, vs the mad dash at the end of the cash close we have
now.
Also, and I know that I've promised this a few times, I plan to
add new
ETF's to the basket, QQQ, IWM, and some others. Now, in
order to make it easier, I'm not going to send all the trades for
the 23 sub systems for a basket of ETF's, that's too much and
people already have problems following them on SPY and ES. My plan
would be to place all the systems on each of those ETF's so that
there can
only be one system active at one time- if I were to have a
basket of 10 ETF's for example, that's the only sane way to do
it
also interesting the next bar open versions of the SPY did not
trigger.
my new versions of the bear long that trigger on the next bar
open have quite a bit better statistics than the current one we use
for close bar. But, I can't officially send these out yet as trade
notifications until I finalize them. But otherwise the past
statistical performance on the new next bar open systems will
generally be as good or better in some cases (an improvement) over
what we've been using
Please keep the present system of indicating during trading
hours which possible trades there will be. For us in the Antipodes
market close is what we work with. I understand the new method will
be easier for US traders and I accept that.
