PBF - Chart Link I went heavy in this one
this morning on the open and added over the trigger candle, taking
quite a bit of profits up here - made my day
the first thing I did this morning was to set buy stop orders on
all those CCI setups, I did that 2hr before the cash open - then
went and had my coffee, and walk etc that's what's nice about those
- set the orders in ahead of time that morning or the previous
evening
for those the initial stop is the candle low - but on something
like PBF it already hit its price target today. If that ends up
being a better bottom maybe price goes up to the 20 day next. I
sold all of mine, for me I tend to be risk averse and like to lock
in gains - what I try to do is go heavy and then if I wish to keep
some shares, I can sell 80% or 90% and keep 20%, 10% for a runner
if it turns into that - whatever feels better for your brain. For
PBF, I would rather not still keep the stop that low - what will
probably happen is you will get a higher low on an intra day time
frame like the 15 min or something to move stop up to
what I like about those CCI bungie setups is that they are
mechanical. This morning for example before the market I set buy
stop orders 1 penny about Friday's high for those 6 CCI setups that
I posted on Sunday. I check to see if there's going to be gap
or something like that, but otherwise I set my buy stops before the
market, then go and get my coffee. The orders I place if triggered
a sell stop immediately gets placed at the lows and I have a couple
sell limit orders set to trigger near the 5 and 9 EMA, that only
get activated if the buy stop triggers. The buy stop is ONLY good
for that day - because if they don't trigger, I shift the trigger
price for the next day to the new candle
I set the orders in place, then go about my morning - they
either get triggered or they don't, I don't have to try and monitor
and manually check and miss them

I know it’s a personal choice where to put your protective stop but do you use the previous days low in your example ?
Nice trigger today on PBF.

Matt, would you do (or have you done) a short video tutorial? I'd like to try and code this as a mechanical system.
