yemi- I don't understand? if you don't have a MAC, then you have Microsoft Windows, and by default you have Windows Media, you should be able to play it.  When you click on the video link, it will download to your computer, then just double click on it to open it.

Otherwise see the sticky post at the top, you can also choose to view the static charts and listen to my audio. again view the sticky post

    New format very problematic

Posted by wbaker on 23rd of Apr 2012 at 09:14 am

I am very dismayed by the use of  windows format for the newsletter and hope that a better solution can be found for us Mac people.

wbaker- I had to do that

Posted by matt on 23rd of Apr 2012 at 09:30 am

wbaker- I had to do that out of necessity.  As you know I always provide the videos in flash format.  However I was unable to do so, the video ended up being slightly too long, too many frames, and when that happens Camtasia will not convert it to Flash.  I am unable to convert it to Flash.

However that said, why not use the URL that I provided to you, just add the WMA cabability to your itunes?

here's what was posted in the newsletter, I provided a URL for you to add WMA playback to your MAC, why not just use that?  what bothers me is that I think I made a great newsletter and I'm getting hell for it.

Note: this is WMA or Windows Media, here's a URL if you don't have this player

Also, if you have a MAC, here's an extension for Quicktime to enable WMA's to be played

    Otherwise, after all this, Videos

Posted by matt on 23rd of Apr 2012 at 09:37 am

Otherwise, after all this, Videos are best for shorter updates of 15 min or less.  Anything larger than 20 min is pushing it with videos because then you might not be able to convert it to flash.   That said, I'll reserve video's for shorter updates.

However I can't redo the weekend newsletter, therefore for anyone with a MAC, please just go the Mac and download the WMA player extension to Itunes, use the URL below

if you have a MAC, here's an extension for Quicktime to enable WMA's to be played

    FYI can make it work

Posted by ragwing on 23rd of Apr 2012 at 09:44 am

For anyone using a Linux OS that has trouble with the format; right click on the newsletter in the calendar, use "inspect element" then click on the "A" above that newsletter in the calendar. Then the Gnome media player will load and run the audio.

However, Matt/Steve, my employer will be requiring us to use issued IPAD's soon and I have no control over what programs can be downloaded, so when that time comes, I may be unable to use the new format. My company does use flash currently.

I don't intend to carry two devices with me to work or travelling.

    When these updates get sent

Posted by ruscitti on 23rd of Apr 2012 at 12:28 am

When these updates get sent out late, I will often view these the next morning on my iPhone. However, I now won't be able to view this update since you decided to publish this in a WMA format.  Please don't do this again in the future

    when I do a video

Posted by matt on 23rd of Apr 2012 at 01:25 am

when I do a video update, it's for your benefit, not mine.  it takes me 4 - 5 times as long to do it, and it's more complicated.

Normally these video formats are flash instead of WMA, however Flash was not possible in this case because of the length of the video, it was not planned like this, but I wasn't going to redo it.

Also my weekend newsletters are not meant for one day, it's good for all week and longer, it's perfectly fine to view it later tomorrow on your computer or the next day or later in the week.

    Great job in the video,

Great job in the video, no problems here with it.

    As a customer, all I'm

Posted by ruscitti on 23rd of Apr 2012 at 06:50 am

As a customer, all I'm saying is please consider a format that can be viewed on a iPhone or android .. that's all.

    Customer feed-back

Posted by billnew52 on 23rd of Apr 2012 at 07:25 am

I view your comments as valuable customer feed-back.  It shouldn't be viewed as an insult.  When I owned a business I welcomed feed-back as it was valuable information - wheter favorable or not.  Sometimes the unfavorable comments were the most valuable.  IMHO
