vix futures question

    Does anybody trade VIX futures?

    I've been reading the theory but not sure how to do it in practical terms. Is most of the volume in the miniVIX  - ie same as trading the emini S&P futures rather than the large futures??

    The "what if" part of my trading platform show that the margin for one contract is $1125. Would that be the large or the mini's?

    I did email my broker with some questions but I'm supposed to be an experienced trader LOL.

    Hi Susan,

    I traded VIX futures quite a bit, VX, $1000 / point. Yet the liquidity is not anywhere near as deep as ES (nothing is actually, except forex). I would not recommend trading the contracts overnight until you have some experience with them intraday as the swings can be large.
