I primarily use the OBV (on balance volume) indicator and watch
for turns at and then away from the trend lines. The trick is to
come up with the trendlines.
I like this chart because it attempts to track the market in
constant dollar terms, as those outside the US would see it. It is
not perfectly so as the UDN is mostly a EURO/DOLLAR measure. I
might try it out with gold but that has issues as well. Any other
suggestions?
