Yes I saw that link which basically attributed the original
longer version to an email send in 2008 but the words are still
from 1965 from Taylor Caldwell's A Pillar of Iron (page 483
according to Wikipedia). Even the abridged version is
questionable whether it is the work of Cicero or not.
So what have we learned in 2,065 years?

Actually I believe the original quote was written by Taylor Caldwell in A Pillar of Ironwhich is a story about Cicero's life, not by Cicero.
