Morning Matt/Steve- Would you please share some information on
the BPT 4xMA indicator shown in Chart 9 of the newsletter? It
jumped out at me that this is indicator is still green on a 2-hour
timeframe. Thanks! Matt.
Good education - thanks Matt. I use a variation of this
whereby rather than have a fixed risk amount I use a percent of my
portfolio size as my risk amount. This way my risk amount
stays appropriate for the size of my portfolio. - Matt.
The
https://breakpointtrades.com/watchlist/page shows the trigger
for ACMR is $63. The high today was $66.49, so yes it
triggered. I set up a auto-trade so I am long with a stop at
the last higher low on the hourly chart $56.23.
Matt - Your automated systems have an excellent track record.
They're the main reason I joined. I know that you
believe that the systems are not suitable for the current
environment, but do you think you will bring them back in the
future? What does that future look like? Thanks!
thanks Matt. This is an interesting example.
Assuming that i am setting up trades the night before, and
therefore ignoring all indicators except price, I would be looking
at an almost 10% max loss between entry and the first stop.
Assuming that my rate of winning trades is 60/40 I would have
to make a minimum of 6.5% on a successful breakout just to break
even over time. This serves to tell me that this ain’t easy!
Steve - Thanks. Appreciate you taking the time to respond.
I am still working on defining my style - as Matt has said,
it can take years. I came to Breakpoint for the automated
systems but am trying to make the most of what's available given
the lack of system triggers. I have a day job and don't have
time to watch the market all day so my learning is slower. I
am also trying to pre-define the trades i.e. add stop loss and
profit taking trades at the same time I set up the trigger
entry trade (using ToS First Triggers OCO functionality).
- Matt.
Steve - If you have time would you please expand on your KDMN
newsletter comments. Sounds like you didn't get stopped out.
The $4.77 long trigger from the 6/17 newsletter hit on 6/17.
On 6/19 we saw a bearish engulfing candle with massive
volume. The day after that on 6/20 there was downside
follow-through which bust down through the 9, 20 and 50 and was
over 8% down from the trigger entry. What did you see on
6/20 that made you want to stay in? Trying to learn from the
master :) Thanks.
I listened to all the talk of day trading in the newsletter.
As someone with a day job, day trading to me does not mean
entering and leaving a position on the same day. Day trading
for me means being in a trade where you have to constantly watch
the market. I am trying to make the most of the daily
trade ideas and have had some success but obviously the # of
winners and % gains are reduced when you have to set initial stop
and exit price at the time of entry. This is not a
complaint. Best - Matt.
