Some Charts

375% sounds like alot, but it's over a long term period, 1961 to 2008 or 47 years which amounts to less than 3% per year!

as we all know, older cars require more "fix-ups" and that business will now be lost forever on the "clunkers", i.e., mechanics, fender repairs, spare parts, etc.

here's a link to a weekly gold chart from futuresource with a channel of 10 period sma of highs on top and 8 period sma of lows on bottom channel (channels never cross)...it looks to be in a triangle now and support is in channle or a little below channel...

gold has a tendency to go up in sep at or around labor day

so may go down to test channel support and then rocket to upside

something to watch for anyway

how many clunkers?

Posted by rjay on 4th of Aug 2009 at 07:15 pm

suppose each person exchanging a clunker receives an average of 6000, then if we take one billion divided by 6000 we get 166,666.66... new cars sold...oops somebody got a smart car...

i used 6000 because chrysler was rebating more on some vehicles...

if we use 5000 instead, then there were 200,000 new cars exchanged for clunkers...

if we use 4000 instead, then there would be 250,000 new cars exchanted...

i googled it and here is an excerpt...

The lawmakers said administration officials told them that 120,000 new vehiclesales had been processed through the program and an additional 100,000 to 130,000 were expected to be processed to reach the $1 billion in funding.

if an additional 2 billion $ are okayed, would that cause gold, oil, silver, pm to explode???...if 2 billion is voted down, would that cause everything to swoon???

what would we look for to find "insiders trading" ahead of this market?

all input welcome...thank

WASHINGTON -- The U.S. economy slumped in the spring but its decline was mild and much smaller than the contraction over the previous nine months, according to data that gave a powerful signal the recession has eased.

Gross domestic product fell at a seasonally adjusted 1.0% annual rate April through June, the Commerce Department said Friday in the first estimate of second-quarter GDP.
