p_s_b, have you tried going to Format - Symbol - ('Scaling' tab)
- then uncheck 'Expand Range To Include Analysis Techniques' box
?
When that box is checked and you have indicators on the screen
that otherwise would be a considerable distance from the price
bars, these price bars are then only a small part of the overall
view, hence their "flat" perspective.

RP, do you ever pairs trade? If you are unsure whether SPY will
fall or Euro rise in order for the correlation to resume, why not
go short the former and long the latter? They might even meet in
the middle - a win-win!

Pivots-wise, we have breached the seldom seen R4 today on SPY (@
$123.92).
How unusual is this activity? I have just scanned back
through my SPY charts for the whole of 2010 and 2011 - in all that
time, we have only breached R4 on one other occasion; the first
trading day of this year (Jan 3)!
FWIW, price action for that day was a nice inverted 'U' shape
i.e. it rose steadily before selling off from around 11.40am into
the close.
Today's trading has started in a very similar fashion.......

Up that amount close-to-close yes, but financials sold off
intraday straight from the initial gap up and the weakness
persisted until the ramp job in the last few minutes of the
session. Buying the gap was a losing trade today in the
financials.
A priceless quote yesterday from one Theodore Tozer of Ginnie
Mae, which has now surpassed Freddie Mac as the second largest
funder of home loans in the country. A quote that will surely come
back to haunt him in the future and which shows that nothing,
absolutely nothing has been learned by the powers-that-be. A quote
so dripping in potential schadenfreude that it deserves wide
dissemination. I wonder what his golden handshake will amount to
WTSHTF?
“We’ve done a really incredible job supporting the housing
market...and the taxpayer makes a ton of money on it.”
“Our model is something people don’t really
understand,” Tozer said.
“It’s the government having its cake and eating it,
too.”

Marketguy, you are generous to a fault with your chart postings.
I am sure they are much appreciated by the vast majority of the
community - please keep it up and ignore the naysayers and wind-up
merchants. Having said that, your posts are very entertaining when
you are angry...

Matt, Steve, RP, anyone else experienced/in-the-know, should I
be worried about MF Global being the tip of the bad brokers iceberg
(commingling client accounts, etc)? I have funds with
Interactive Brokers and TradeStation. Any advice would be much
appreciated.

Steve, to build on your point from earlier, when very large gaps
appear overnight, even R4/S4 can be in play. Also, today in AAPL
(so far), both support and resistance are defined by pivot
mid-points.

The SPY and EURUSD usually correlate, and certainly have in the past six weeks.
Also, the Pound (GBPUSD) and Euro (EURUSD) usually follow each other.
However, the Pound has diverged from the Euro significantly in the past six weeks - see the attached correlation chart.
FXE = Euro / EURUSD ETF
FXB = Pound / GBPUSD ETF
Sooooo, 'no risk' pairs trade = Long FXE / Short FXB?
