Matt's long-term dollar chart used to show a big 2-year wedge,
which the dollar broke below in March. Now it's rising back up for
a back-test..maybe the $22 area. Sorry I don't have the chart to
post.
UUP could easily play out the recent inverted H&S and more.
The Euro and yen are anybody's guess. The broken UUP wedge
trendline however could be resistance for the dollar soon
but as you point out, the volumes in this and many other
instruments seems eerily weak.
Not sure, but one trigger for volumes might be coming out of the
EU bailout talks tomorrow. Tuesday is apparently a key date for
figuring out whether Finland's new government will approve the
proposed EU bailout guarantees. If they refuse, it might delay or
scuttle the current EU proposal to help Portugal. I could see the
news moving bond rates in either direction.

Looking at the rising lows on the 16th and the 23rd, versus the declining lows on the MACD, why wouldn't that count as a negative divergence?
GLD moving averages bunching together

I'm probably late, but I just noticed that the 50-day and shorter moving averages on GLD are pinching tightly together.
Anybody have thoughts? Portending a bigger move?

who thinks any such agreement will actually be carried out, or compliance accurately reported?
This is a stalling method. That's all.
Up-volume on bounce doesn't look that great, does it?

I think you're right;
The dollar is the only story right now

the VIX doesn't seem nearly as big a deal on this pullback. Dollar is what I'm watching, and news of the EU bailouts.
Great news. Best to you, wife and baby!
