I have a similar chart

TRIP

I have a similar chart drawn up. Hopefully it will hold

I can't count the number of times I've read this. Great book.

Thanks. We were just talking about that over here. The greenback is fairly strong this morning as well.

Earnings season for the complex, and there was an article in WSJ highlighting that Hunter Harris is leaving CP and looking at CSX with an activist investor.

Wish I could bankroll that

PXD

Anyone have a view on PXD? Should be highly correlated (haven't tested) to WTI, but there is an open gap between here and ~175. Any thoughts?

huge move in Peabody coal

Posted by pinguin on 27th of Dec 2016 at 08:36 am

In case anyone is still following this (or hopefully short). a little news blurb from Fridya:

" Peabody Energy Corp.   dived 9.58% in over-the-counter trading to end at $7.46, a day after   filing   a reorganization plan and disclosure statement with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Missouri, as the company gears up to emerge from Chapter 11 bankruptcy.

Peabody's proposed plan recapitalizes the company through a backstopped rights offering of $750 million, a private placement of mandatorily convertible preferred stock of $750 million and the issuance of new common stock to satisfy certain creditor claims. The company hopes to exit bankruptcy with sufficient liquidity for its near- and long-term needs. The plan insists Peabody has an opportunity to " not only survive but to thrive for the long-term benefit of its many stakeholders.""

It's a bit late, but Merry Christmas to you as well! Thanks for all of your work and insights.

I own some bonds... so I can't say that I'm completely clean in this play.

Just wanted people to know what they may own.

Be careful with this one....

Be careful with this one.... it is a company in bankruptcy

new target to be 32.5Mbpd

I prefer the quote "If countries agree, we will organise another meeting" or perhaps the fact they are leaving Algiers today (Tuesday)

Also of interest. "While our price forecast remains unchanged at $52/bbl on average for next year with a 1H17 expected trading range of $45- $50/bbl" from the report

Tradestation Question

Posted by pinguin on 29th of Jun 2016 at 11:25 am

I'm sure someone here knows the answer to this simple question. Hoe do I have a continuous contract trigger a trade off of the current contract? For example a trade triggered on @GC would trigger a trade on GCQ16...

Thanks!

No kidding... we are having our first "normal" summer here in Dallas after several years of mild summers. Even though I have lived here for quite a while I had forgotten what heat+humidity feels like.

The mark-up on their beans

JO coffee ETF

The mark-up on their beans is crazy... I roast my own coffee as a side hobby and it is amazing the mark-up. Consider this... 1lb of coffee will make approximately 50 cups of normal coffee. Let's assume starbucks only yields 35 cups/pound that means they are grossing ~$70/lb of coffee, minus labor and such. I imagine there is a smidge of profit in that...

I believe a 10:1 or 30:1 is happening next week... somebody check me, as this is my memory talking

I've recently started roasting my own beans and can tell you that even at my small level there is a reasonable profit to be made just on the roasting of beans. I haven't looked into SBUX and their variable cost, but have to imagine that labor (plus all the things that come with labor) is one of their highest cost areas.

Great note. Thanks for taking the time to post it for everyone! :)

Thanks! It is nice to

Thanks! It is nice to quarterly contracts with volume... unlike some futures with monthly contracts and limited liquidity
