I'm sure Starbucks will use this as a reason to raise prices
soon citing increasing commodity prices. Of course we know
they didn't LOWER prices after coffee prices fell 50% from 2014 to
2015 - it only works one way!
The mark-up on their beans is crazy... I roast my own coffee as
a side hobby and it is amazing the mark-up. Consider this... 1lb of
coffee will make approximately 50 cups of normal coffee. Let's
assume starbucks only yields 35 cups/pound that means they are
grossing ~$70/lb of coffee, minus labor and such. I imagine there
is a smidge of profit in that...
