Vol pickup on GS might be Buffett's interest - he is investing 5 billion.

Watching GS on the intraday charts, well ahead of its avg daily vol - may take as a day trade to 134 on a pop. Any thoughts?

SKF/XLF

Watching for a trendline break of XLF on the 15/60min chart to add to the SKF position

dylan, I've traded SKF a number

Posted by ocracoke53 on 7th of Aug 2008 at 08:46 am

dylan,

I've traded SKF a number of times but wasn't looking at it yesterday afternoon until your post. Bought shares yesterday at 112.75, just sold pre-market at 117.50. Thanks for the post!

IRF

Posted by ocracoke53 on 6th of Aug 2008 at 11:35 am

IRF seems light on volume - may not hold this move up

SUN

Posted by ocracoke53 on 6th of Aug 2008 at 11:18 am

Taking some profit on SUN bought early on the low vol pull back the other day when it found support at its 50ma. Will watch and add to the position on a pullback if we see one. Thanks for the SUN post.

Wish I had taken that DECK short yesterday, its thinly traded and sure can move - but usually get burned on those thinly traded stocks.

DECK

Posted by ocracoke53 on 5th of Aug 2008 at 01:55 pm

On DECK that's the 8ema not the 50 and 113 acting as some resistance

DECK

Posted by ocracoke53 on 5th of Aug 2008 at 01:51 pm

DECK was a nice short the other day, failed to hold onto its 50ma today. Looking to re-entry with a break below 112

rp, americap,

rp thinking that oil due for a little bounce, did take that profit on JRCC - thanks

americap, MTB does look interesting, did take a short position - thanks for the post. Made several trades today with SKF but it was about a break-even.

thanks

JRCC

Posted by ocracoke53 on 18th of Jul 2008 at 12:30 pm

rp, thanks for that early post on the JRCC, shorted about the same time - a $2 drop not bad :-)

rgoodwin, my bad you are correct

Earnings

rgoodwin,

my bad you are correct - may have to exit that UYG a little early.

Earnings

Posted by ocracoke53 on 16th of Jul 2008 at 09:14 am

I think Steve's comments on Earnings are on the money, it seems like a real gamble to hold a stock through earnings in this environment. MDT doesn't post until Aug. 19th, but MER will post after the close tomorrow. I believe EarningsWhispers.com has the consensus est on MER at 2.07 with their est at 2.50. Perhaps if they are correct this may help the financials. I'm not holding MER but did pick up UYG yesterday near the low - will hold today unless it looks like its going to continue to head south. This will take care of my gambling fix.

Healthcare

Posted by ocracoke53 on 16th of Jul 2008 at 09:02 am

A number of these healthcare stocks look interesting, IART from monday's post has done well.

In an IRA account from about a week ago I bought MDT at 51.50. It looks like its ready to move up, may add to my current position.

IART

Posted by ocracoke53 on 14th of Jul 2008 at 10:56 am

IART chart looks interesting on the daily, pick at another site and a recent mention by Cramer. It's holding this mornings gap and above resistance on daily, may be worth watching towards end of trading today. It's thinly traded, but doing well this morning to exceed its daily vol.
