AAPL/Brazil/housing

First, I believe the AAPL news was ideal if you are a bear.  This P2 will end on earnings blowout euphoria IMO.

Second, Brazil etf (EWZ) is selling off exceptionally hard after hours -- no idea why yet.  I heard a pretty funny reason to "buy Brazil" recently... "because the Olympics are going there".  What?  "they will be building like crazy for the next six years".  I wish this wasn't a conversation with one of my family members, but alas, it was.  Didn't China just host the Olympics and get crushed?  I hear the same thing coming from Vancouver and their hot real estate market and I fear that those buying into that will get burned badly.

Finally, I've been following zillow sporadically over the last couple of years, but haven't recently, so I just did.  Don't know how accurate their charts are for prices, but they have their "zillow prices" as tanking since July (at least for the area in which I live in SF Bay).  In a real recovery, wouldn't the economy turnaround be reflected in stable, or rising house prices?

We sold our house 4 months ago (June 2009) in Greensboro, NC and the Zillow estimate for our house was spot-on, unfortunately.  I don't know the algorthm they use for their Zillowestimate, but in our case, it was close.

I am in Almaden Valley in San Jose, CA and I checked the prices of house on Zillow a few weeks ago.  Almost of year ago, houses sold for more than 20% of the current Zillowestimate.  Just some of my observations.

Because foreign investment is the single largest source of money in the BOVESPA, the return of the foreign investment tax should slow some of the dollars (Brasil has always been a favorite of the carry trade, the high interest rates make for easy, near risk free, profits on near zero interest borrowed dollars) flowing into Brasil and Brasilian stocks and bonds. Didn't hurt that EWZ was at its upper trendline with very high MACD, stochastic and RSI. Should also help the Real out a bit too.
