i have the problem too..i am buying a breakout...take half
profits on the initial move and then move the stop to breakeven for
the other half..however most of the times the price retest the
breakout level and i am stopped out..exactly where buyers who
missed the first move step in again...
remember that lately the market has been tough, a lot of stocks
have not been following through well before coming back to their
breakpoints or below it, the point is, there are times when you
will hardly get stopped out at all and then other times when you
will get stopped out often - lately the trading environment has
been tough, so don't take that as a sign you are doing something
wrong.
However what you can do is be pickier, only do stocks with very
very high volume, and maybe keep your position size lower so that
you can give some stocks that you wish to swing trade a little more
room etc instead of moving your stop up to your entry on the first
break which is stopping you out etc
