didn't work, however yes unemployment numbers would be higher if
they used the old calcuations from the 1980's, I think they changed
the calculations in the early 90's or late 80's. Unemployment
would likely be over 10% with the old calculations
Go to Table A-12. The "U6" line shows that using the old method,
where people who stopped looking because they can't find work are
still tracked, means total unemp. is realy 13.9%. This is right
from the gov't.
one of my bigger fears that the gov't has wasted a lot of time
and resources trying to keep people in homes they should have never
been in before...Now the recession is hitting high unemployment
level which will push wage prices down which will create further
pressure on home prices creating more problems..they can "cook the
books" to try to quell the masses but you can only put so many
fingers in the dyke...before she blows

Roger Wiegand uses the double of the official statistics to get the actual numbers. He posts on kitco.com, his postings are rather eye-opening.
