I have no problem with EV's, I always liked the TESLA's.
There should be a market for them and the act of producing
them is needed to make the tech better over time.
that said - what I don't like is artificially forcing them on
the population i.e. all cars produced have to be EV's by 2032 or
something.
I think you let the market work on its own - as the EV's get
better, the tech gets better etc, they will naturally start
to supplant some ICE cars over time - but trying to force
artificially never works well
my wife has a hybrid Pacifica minivan, I like that because on
both electric and gas you can get over 550 miles. On Electric only
you get about 38 miles, which isn't much, but if we are mostly
driving around town we get crazy gas mileage. The van has a
16 gallon gas tank, on our last fill up we got almost 1600 miles on
that tank of gas, that's nearly 100 miles a gallon! I plug
the hybrid into 110, which is fine because it's only a 13 KW
battery so charges easily overnight with that - our KWH electric
rate is 7 cents, so charging it fully overnight is about $1 i.e.
0.7 cents x 13. You get the very high gas mileage and no
range anxiety if you go on a long trip since it will just use the
gas engine.

We have the same van and love it for the same reasons you state.
Love the Tesla's but am going to wait for the technology and range
to continue to improve.

Pacifica's are the bomb! I rented one on a recent snowboarding trip and fell in love...until I looked up the price to buy one. Holy crap!

This is essentially the one I drove. I loved it.
