Matt, what would be an example of a condition that triggers a Trend Hold? I watched the video and see that it is momentum based. Are we looking for increasing momentum? Above a certain level? Other?

I find that when I try to hold a day trade, I often give everything back and then some. When i take the quick wins, I'm much more profitable. I would love to understand better, how to decide if it's worth holding or if I should take the quick win. Any thoughts are appreciated.

    yeah don't over think it.

yeah don't over think it. Yes it's based off slope of a smoothed momentum. Gotta be 13 years ago now, I tested every indicator from MACD, MA's, RSI, whatever and the smoothed momentum seemed to give the best results.

As far as this trade, like I said I wouldn't over think it. This is just one trade that didn't work out better with the trend hold, most of them do, not all will.

My point, which I think makes sense, is that these are mean reversion systems, they enter when the market is stretched and due for a mean reversion move. Once you get the mean reversion move, even if a trend hold condition triggers that has potential for a bigger swing trade, it still makes sense to exit 1/2 the position once the mean reversion move occurs, because that's the nature of the system. That's what we'll be doing in the future.

Your point about how you do best when you take your profits vs runners is true for a lot of folks as well. But I'm sure at times when you decide to hold the position longer, you probably scaled out of some of the position to lock in some gains already
