The next Vol crush day is going to be nice. I've got a ton
of short delta on the board (short SPX call spreads) against a much
smaller set of long delta positions (short SPX put spreads). I
should be crushing it given my negative "delta dollar" totals, but
I actually have a negative P&L today because of the huge move
in the VIX.

Yeah, not taken into consideration the VIX can be vexing.
