hi Matt---sorry to bother --- I`ve asked this before about
the ATR settings which you shared for TOS atr period 9
and atr factor 2.9 it then says
first trade =long average type = exponential
but i consistantly get different numbers
i also noticed this morning that your BPT charts were from
tradestation however the only atr indicator they have is not
relevant to what you show in your chart-- is that a
proprietary tool of yours or can you guide me to where i can
find it on tradestation as i use both systems ???
thanks--all else is good -great education every night.
ATR trailing stop indicators are very common on charting
platforms. However we've had a lot of trouble getting the
Tradestation version of the ATR to match on other platforms at
times. My programmer told me that the function TS uses
is different from other places. He was able to mostly get it
matching on places like Ninja Trader. However the problem is the
default function that places use to calculate. We found that you
couldn't just use the default ATR trailing stop indicator at other
places, you had to re-write the underlying function or at least
something like that. That's me trying to recall, I can ask him to
clarify later but yes most likely the default ATR on TOS will not
match TS basically when using the same ATR length settings
